Having problems seeing the ball in day time

I am used to play at night times. When playing at day time, I see a huge difference, the background more distracting, so I can't see the ball very well. And as a result, I don't move very well. In the league I played, I lost all day matches, including the last two I should have won.

Does anyone else have similiar problems? How do you adjust?

Play more in daylight.
Focus only on the ball.
Tunnel vision, don't look at the cute girls on the sidelines.
If you've never done something, you gotta do it in order to be able to do it.

Thanks. Just googled tunnel vision, found as a glass wearer, I am more likely to be tunnel visioned. I swear I didn't look at the cute girls, at least not during points...

Hope so. I do hit day times against wall, maybe that contributed some as well.

Some people have issue keeping their eyes focus under sunlight which causing them losing concentration. Try using shade or cap... these thing do help for such purpose.

Yes that helped. Probably sunglasses would help too, but I already got glasses on me, so can't manage to put sunglasses ...

They do make prescription sunglasses.
[And many play with contacts and sunglasses.]

The best sunglasses won't allow light in from the sides, above or below.

Hunters and anglers favor brown lenses for maximum contrast - I find they provide the best contrast at the courts I play on, and seem to help me see the ball.

I think polarized sunglasses also help to decrease glare.

If money was no object, most agree Oakley has the best optics in the curved glass needed to keep light from getting in from the sides. http://in.oakley.com/innovation/opti...ity/hdo/proven

I wear Oakley Flak Jackets:



A hat with a brim keeps the sun off the lens, and would be useful even without sunglasses.


Here is what an eye doctor had to say in an article:

"My impression is that most of the visual problems from playing a sport in bright sunlight are a result of glare and of the brightness of the sky, which sets the general level of light sensitivity and can make a playing surface appear relatively dark. This is why a tunnel appears black inside as we approach it in sunlight. What can the ophthalmologist recommend? For tennis, wear a cap and good sunglasses. Simply wearing a cap with a visor will not only reduce glare but will also make the court appear relatively brighter (as does a tunnel once we enter it). A neutral gray or amber sunglass that blocks 99% to 100% of UV-A and UV-B light will provide additional protection and may even help slightly to make the ball stand out (depending on the color of the court)."

Bolle' (and others) make lenses that make optic yellow pop. They are marketed either as Tennis Sunglasses or Softball Sunglasses, since most balls are optic yellow. The lenses look teal.
