VCore xi 98 really lacking power? what?

I tried out the 98D a while back for 45 mins or so and found it to have amazing power, yet apparently its replacement is underpowered? Can anyone chime in?

Very interested in comparisons between the two and with dunlop 3f if anyone has hit with them.

I tried 98d and it just did not click for me. Hoping the xi works out better
