Yes, because he wants a chance to close the H2H.

At this point in his career Federer has enough to worry about with Djokovic, Murray and Berdych. Having Rafa around is not the same as before when he was the one guy ruining his dreams. These days a nice epic battle between Rafa and one of his other rivals could be what Fed needs. Look at US Open and AO. Djokovic had no-one in his half while fed would have had to play Murray. At Wimbledon Murray didn't have to play Nadal because he lost while Federer had to play Djokovic which could have been a disaster if Federer had a long match with Djokovic and Murray breezed through. At least this way the draw should be more balanced. Plus if he does play Nadal at IW, he actually has a decent chance if he plays well.
My guess is in a way he's pleased to have him back but of course he knows it will be hard playing him. But he probably still believes he can beat him. He's so arrogant after all

Excited as in anxious and getting Roger more pumped up? Yes.
Would Roger rather not have to deal with Nadal when trying to win a tournament? Certainly. |

I think Federer enjoys the rivalries, so yes, I think he's glad to see Rafa back.

But you can only experience the overwhelming joy of seeing Nadal lose if Nadal actually plays. On that note vamos Harrison!

I wish federer would stop talking. He's even worse than Lance Armstrong.

If you read the quote that's not even what Fed said.
He and Rafa ran into each other at the practice courts and Fed said he was "excited" to see Rafa again after so long. |

why would he be exited? He knows he is going going to get his ***** handed over....he should be fretting and in future should always rewind his thoughts about his ascendancy to the top in Nadal's absence.

He only expendable to Federer after he beats him at RG once.

I think he is for many reasons.
I think of the reasons is that Nadal for many years has pushed Federer and forced him to become even better and even more motivated. When you have a champion such as Nadal pushing you all the time, challenging your records, it gives you that extra drive to keep achieving, it helps to keep focus and keep that hunger. Nadal may not be what Federer wants, but he could be what Federer needs.

Federer knows that with the incoming biological passports he'll win a few more slams.
