2013 Golden Swing: Viña del Mar 250, São Paulo 250, Buenos Aires 250, Acapulco 500

The Golden Swing this year is interesting with Nadal playing at Vina del Mar and Acapulco. Vina del mar being his first tournament since Wimbledon. Although there are still questions around how match ready he is, I see him winning Vina del mar.

Almagro is another one to watch - he played great against Ferrer at the Australian Open, but wasn't able to close it out. I see him winning Sao Paulo.

Ferrer has been in good form, getting to another slam semi at the Aussie open (equalling his best performance in a slam). I see him winning Buenos Aires.

All going to plan we'll have a nice showdown of Nadal vs Ferrer in the Acapulco final to finish off the Golden Swing this year.

Wow I did not expect Nadal to lose in the final, but at least he got in some good match play.

Oh and Nadal is playing in Sao Paulo, I hadn't counted on that when I made my Almagro-to-win prediction.

Rooting for Nadal, but wouldn't it be fun to see Zeballo get back-to-back wins? I wouldn't be surprised if he's mentally exhausted after his surprise win so he'll likely go out early, but it would be a fun story.

Yes of course Almagro would probably still be favoured to win based on Nadal's recent form. I simply hadn't factored in Nadal being there when I made my call 'Almagro should win'.

No you mean he will go back to his normal level. One and done guys never repeat these type of performances again, and this dude will be no different.

I also think Nadal makes it really easy for these kind of players to get wins over him by hitting short and being lousy on the ros. Zebs does not get a win over Djesus, Fed, or Murray no matter how he plays because all of those guys are better players than Nadal is.

Yeah, you're most likely right on all accounts. I just always love the storybook idea of one of these days a guy like this not being one and done and somehow the surprise win pushing him to at least a slightly higher level.

Not true...Murray has had some strange WTF losses too.

if they were out of action for 8 months they would have a decent chance of losing to someone like Zeb. And Murray isn't better than Nadal.Currently he is because Nadal has been out of action but otherwise he isn't in the same class, and even Djokovic has a way to go to be on the same historic level as Nadal. But Nadal is definitely better than Murray- even on Murray's best surface, Nadal has more slams.
