Default MG Prestige MP Grommets for PT57a (HELP) ?

Now i know this isn't going to be a new Post by any means so dont shoot me down for asking something i know has probably been asked before but i just need a little clarification as i'm just getting into the whole racket modding and prostock sticks !!

I have a PT57a with a Youtek PJ and it doesnt have the long grommet strips which cover about 85% of the hoop and finish at approximately 5 and 7 O'clock positions. Instead my grommet strip finishes a little higher up at around the 4 and 8 O'Clock positions so from looking at various posts on here i believe i need the Microgel (MG) Prestige MP grommet strip which i have ordered from a Tennis supplies web site. However after reading other posts(note i'm still waiting for the grommet strip to be delivered) i im curious to know if there's a difference between MG Prestige CAP grommets and just MG Prestige grommets or are they exactly the same thing ?

Might seem obvious to some but to the untrained very confusing !!

As Absolute mentioned, the Prestige comes with the CAPs.
You probably have the iPrestige grommets that taper off from 4 o'clock or so down to the channel ending.
The weight difference will be negligable (sp?)

Thanks dr325i.

Ok so i received my new CAP grommets for my PT57a but where as i asked for Microgel grommets the package they have arrived in says Youtek. Are they the same thing, they certainly appear to be very similar but they look thinner in appearence but i'm not sure that this is because they flatten out more when on a strung racket ??

Yes dr325i, i think your right about the current grommets on my stick being
i-Prestige which are definately shorter in length than the new grommets.

When i brought my PT it had no obvious features such as PT57a being stamped in the throat, to confirm its a PT57a other than an image the seller sent me of the hairpin with a small piece of paper stuck on it confirming the model PT57a A3, the weight 248gms etc etc. So i've brought the new grommets to see if the grommet channel extends about 5mm past the grommet strip........as i'm lead to believe thats another tell tale sign that ive got a PT57a.

The feel of the racket does set its self apart from other rackets i have so i'm pretty confident what i have is the real deal but i just wanted to add the grommets to be sure.

Cool info! Well at least for me as a PT57A rookie

Any other tell tale signs of a PT57A if the code is not printed on the throat?

Hi Boinz,
These rackets used to have the prostock code printed in the throat but Head decided to put the details under the pallets (the grip) to hide it from non pro players like us so its less obvious that most pro's play with rackets that are not the same s the retail versions.

Apart from the softer feel from the PT57a's flex and the grommet channel which extends slightly further past where the grommet strip ends i dont think there are any other features. PT57E's are apparently even more flexy so i am led to believe.

The guy i last replied to dr325i so i am led to believe is more of an expert on pro stock frames so if you can contact he or if he replies to any of the messages above he's the guy to speak to.

Most of the stuff you need to know though can easily be found on these forums and has probably been asked a million times before.

The E is more muted with a crisper snappier feel. The E is the i.Prestige MP while the A is the Pro Tour 630.

As my friend, VSBABOLAT, explained, the 57A would have a soft, pluch feel. The E would be more crisp.
Also, the molds are different -- the throat/bridge area of the E is like the iPrestige (same mold).
THe Youtek and MG CAPs are the same, so, you should be fine to go

Thanks dr.

I put the grommets on last night and my fingers are now red raw, i thought getting them on would be a 5 minute job but how wrong could i have been. So 30 minutes later and the new set of grommets are on plus sore as hell fingers (well thumbs).

Got what i wanted though so i'm happy with that and to confirm the grommet channel does extend about 5mm past where the grommet strip ends.
