Poker Face: Noun. An impassive expression that hides one's true feelings.
e.g. Roger Federer's on court demeanor, winner, error, up 40-0, down 0-40, same expression.

Federer is an artist, Djok is a ruthless machine.
I expect I'll lose a lot of interest in tennis when the great man retires. |

Agree. I admit that I acvtually fell asleep watching the Aussie final, Djoker vs murray. zzzz! It was often like watching a TV test pattern. Federer is still often captivating, win or lose!

I find Djokovic's game is progressing and he is becoming more of an all courter and serving better.
I find his game more exciting than Nadal/Murray. Federer obviously trumps them all. But I really really dislike how he matches up with a lot of top players, MURRAY ESPECIALLY (my god they have snoozefests) but Ferrer, Tipsarevic, Gasquet etc who all play similar, but lesser versions of his game. It feels like ping pong sometimes,

Not really. After Federer retires, I will still watch every single big tennis tournament and continue playing tennis recreationally. It's just that after Federer retires, I suspect there will be a lot less of a tennis obsession for me. I mean sometimes, I watch like 2-4 hours of tennis highlights/matches on youtube a day.

Nah, keep your stupid conclusions to yourself.
What it does show is that I like variety and finesse - I was brought up on the tennis of the 1980s, which I imagine, you may have only heard about at best. It had variety and finesse in abundance. Federer's skill set makes for compelling viewing. I will watch Federer play anyone and look forward to it immensly. In contrast, the prospect of watching Rafa, Murray or Djok take apart some journeyman leaves me cold. That's why I'll miss the GOAT. |

And this isn't about being anti-Djokovic. I like him immensely and he's a superb player and great "bloke" as we say in Australia.
He's just not Roger Federer. |

Federer IS tennis. What some of these other players play is a sad evolution of the game. That doesn't make it interesting or aesthetically pleasing. It doesn't surprise me that fans would say that.

One of my ambitions is to see Federer live. I was lucky enough to see Sampras playing DC in Sweden.

What is REAL tennis? Djokovic? LOL. Tennis has taken on many forms in history. Some prefer the 90s variety, others the 60s and 70s. Some prefer today's tennis. Who are you to say what's real and not real tennis or who's an armchair expert. Some people may not like where the sport is heading - it is not any more REAL than tennis years ago. |
