Default How Do You String The Head Flexpoint Instinct?

I picked two of these up recently from the TW forums, but I cannot figure out how to string it. I have strung many (enough) racquets in the past but this one has me stumped. I'm doing a two-piece job and I can't thread the string (17G) through any of the tie-off holes for either the mains or the crosses. I did the mains by threading the string tips before pulling tension, but the final cross will simply not go through...

very carefully!

jk. honestly, it sounds more like practice issue. usually for cross i cut the tip to a sharp angle and put it through with a plier. it helps to have the right tools. maybe post a pic

I seem to remember the holes were smaller in that racket. To make matters worse the crosses tie off on a main so you can put the tag end in the tie off hole before pulling tension on the bottom cross but you can on top. The best solution would be a pathfinder awl inserted from the inside out, another solution if you don't have a pathfinder awl would be to insert some scrap string in the hole. When you are ready to tie off trim you end and lubricate it with gulf wax, pull out the scrap and insert the tag end in the hole.

I also replaced the grommets on this racquet, which I have done on at least three different racquets, and it's like the grommets aren't quite made to the spec of the racquet. All of the grommets are in the holes, but they don't quite fit like they should. It's difficult to explain. I purchased the right grommet strips, but no amount of finagling can get them sit perfectly and "snap" in.

I had the same problem when I replaced the grommet sets on my 3 Flexpoints. I had to use awl an guide on a 2 piece or leave the tie offs at the mains start until I had strung the first 2 crosses. Last tie off was still a pain though. A mate of mine used to stretch the hole with an oversized skewer but it was very ugly. On the plus side he had had dramas tying off.

I did. I strung it up once before and the grommets still became unseated after I cut the strings.
