Jura -- very interesting and many thanks for going to the trouble of posting this. Other than out and out volleyers, most racket grips are size 3. Most racket weights are either around 12ozs or less. Many of the players seem to be playing with rackets that are about the weight of the rackets they appear to be playing with eg Davydenko and Djokovic.

Regarding the weight I was also surprised that some players really use quit light weighted frames. But still lot of them have very heavy sticks, (look at Blake!). |

I've been messing with those numbers to convert them to the inches, ounces, and points Headlight measurements that I'm more used to and here are some interesting numbers:
Nadal's racquet unstrung is 11.3 ounces and 8 pts. head light. Agassi's unstrung is 12.1 ounces and 8 pts. headlight. Gaudio's is 12.8 ounces and 11 pts. head light. Moya's is 10.8 ounces and 8 points head heavy. |

Wow. Awesome post.
The balance seems to average between 30-32. What does that mean in Tennis Warehouse terms (points Head light, even, Head heavy)? |

how many grams in an ounce??? i did my own vague math and came to about 25 grams. but that's either wrong or far too imprecise.
does anyone know??? and curious as to balance, but doesn't it matter how long the racquet is??? echo others and say thank you for posting this. |

This page can convert grams to ounces:
http://www.geocities.com/SiliconVall.../jv_gr2oz.html Actually, Daniel Nestor had the heaviest at 375 grams (13.2 ounces) unstrung! That racquet was also 15 pts. head light unstrung. Balance does have to take into account the length. You figure the center point of the racquet. Then the balance point. If the balance point is towards the handle from the center then the racquet is Head Light. If the balance point is towards the head from the center then it is Head Heavy. Each 1/8 of an inch from that center is one point. So, if a racquet balances one inch towards the handle of the center of a racquet then that racquet is 8 pts. head light. |

my math on head-light and head-heavy for the more extreme players =
daniel nestor 29.5 cm balance, 69.3 cm length. so middle = 34.65 cm, so 5.15 cm head light, 2.54 cm per inch. so 2 inches head-light. a point = 1/8 inch. so 16 points headlight (sorry, did someone say this earlier). carlos moya 36.6 on 68.5. so, 36.6 on 34.25 = 2.35 cm headlight. so 0.9 of inch. so 7 points head heavy. hope those are right.???? |

Moya's racquet is somewhere between 7 and 8 points head heavy. ...and that's unstrung! How head heavy is it strung!?
