I've heard really bad things about the X-A. On the other hand, the X-B got good reviews. But then it also sort of looks like an ice cream truck.

You could always get a tC. Those look pretty sweet.

We recently bought a tC for my daughter, she loves it. It also seems like a good value, as it come pretty much loaded with lots of little features, a decent stereo (though my daughter's has the ipod option) and lots of airbags for us parents.

No, they aren't electric. I think it's part of Toyota.

I neglected to mention that I'm not mechanically inclined, so I don't want something that will break down every other week.....

I think the tC is pretty good too. For the price it's quite the value.

ScionB was a "recommended" car by Consumer Reports. If it's built by Toyota it's probably good quality.

The tC is a nice car, but I just have a personal preference for the Mazda3

I just pulled the trigger on a Mazda 3 i touring model. 17K out the door. The Scion's were too hard to get a hold of and the ride is much nicer on the Mazda. Scion's are nice, but for a guy my age, the 3 is a better choice. Thanks to all for the information.

atatu,

check out:

--- www.mazda3forums.com
--- www.autoweek.com (go to "forums")

or, Goggle "Scion versus Mazda-3, which will bring up a site:
http://townhall-talk.edmunds/com/direct/view.ef9557c which has some "apples to apples" comparisons between the two.

Do you really want to drive a Scion? Get a used car, benefit from someone else taking the depreciation hit.
