Default String = more power, soft multi, or solid core

I was talking to a USTA pro and he felt a hybrid or solid core string gives you more power on a flex frame v/s a soft multi such as NXT, he used the term -' Flattens' out the ball more. What do you all think ? does it depend upon the swing and strength of the player.
