Default What color is Obsidian

Hi, I was wondering if someone could describe what Obsidian from Nike looks like on the Breathe free 2's?

Actually it is closer to black.

Obsidian \Ob*sid"i*an\, n. [L. Obsidi**** lapis, so named,
according to Pliny, after one Obsidius, who discovered it in
Ethiopia: cf.F. obsidiane, obsidienne. The later editions of
Pliny read Obsi**** lapis, and Obsius, instead of Obsidi****
lapis, and Obsidius.] (Min.)
A kind of glass produced by volcanoes. It is usually of a
black color, and opaque, except in thin splinters.

Well of course I understand one could go to Google and search, although these companies have shoes named with colors that do not exactly always match up with a definition. Consider the darker colors within the Barricade 2 line, you can read the descriptions but you still have to see them in person to understand the hues of each color. Thats why we have these forums for this type of discussion.

Hmm that one is indeed blue, I really would not have even considered obsidian in the description if I were naming it. Nike also has an dark obsidian with white that looks more what I think of as obsidian.

This is White/White/Dark Obsidian/Silver

Trust me, Nike's obsidian is navy (and whoever said it had gray in it is right -- it's a dark grayish blue). I have at least a half dozen pieces of Nike's "dark obsidian" tennis clothing. I am wearing some obsidian shorts right now. It isn't black. Google "Nike obsidian" and then see what pieces (mostly shoes) come up.

Well my shoes arrived and as I expected, the posters mentioning the stone and looking it up on Google, all of which I did along with looking at Dictionary .com before posting were completely wrong. Nike's color is very different from the literal description of the color. It is more of a dark gray/blue color. Not black at all, if someone thinks the "NIKE" version of the color is black then they would think my silver Audi is blue!
