Default Allow coaches on the court

I think tennis should allow the coaches on the court. It would make for some great tennis. Imagine on a clay court, a coach arguing a mark, kicking dirt on the ump, then getting the boot. That would be sweet. Well, that may never happen, but anything to spice up tennis.

The focus should always be on the player. Coaching during play are for team sports.

The mental game is such a huge part of tennis that it wouldn't be fair for a player to have someone there to set them straight on strategy and calming them down. You might never see a 1st round upset again!

A lot of players can't afford to have coaches there all the time. That's why they have that rule.

No way, tennis is half about battling yourself, that's part of the challenge. Being on serve in the fifth set, deep in the tournament, on national tv in front of millions but being all alone, and finding it within yourself to pull one out. I can just see automaton tennis player come out who won't think for themselves hitting balls and employing practice stategies exactly as a coach tells them to do where he's the joystick and your sonic the hedgehog or something, no way, that's what might happen.

Seems like the crowd told Gaudio what a coach would have after the first two sets, which was to just have fun. That really calmed him down. Johnny Mac also seems to think having a coach on the court is a good idea too.

Permode, I agree with you that not all players can afford coaches. But then again, the top players afford other advantages too, like personal trainers, managers, personal stringers, better travel accommodations, etc....

Personally I'm for allowing coaching on the Tennis Warehouse BB. That would save us from a few spineless threads...
