I'll end it right here lol. Sorry Meg, I'm trying to multi-task & we know when you work w/kids all day, multi-tasking usually ends up confusing everyone. I haven't looked @ my user profile since I started my user name on here lol.

Anyways, back to Upstate New York Tennis!

Oh P.S. Meg, I may be a teacher in real life, but on here & @ the courts, I don't let anybody call me Mr.!!!!!

I've been there. The red clay courts are great, the instruction is pretty good, level of other players can vary. The lodging is very modest and there's not much to do in the area other than tennis, but the food there is great.

Thanks Vin! I've heard that the lodgings are 'spartan' @ best & a night on the town usually ends up back @ the tennis facility lol. But overall the tennis is pretty good (as you stated). Thanks for your opinion!

Hi,

Maybe "rachacha" does.. Buffalo is a tennis wasteland compared to "rachacha" and downstate.

When I lived there we (affectionately?) called it "Rotten-chester." The R Tennis Club is where the best tennis players can be found. If the Webster Tennis Club is still functioning, they were the nicest people in the area, IMO. And there's a big central Park with about 12 public courts. You could always get a game there.

So the "Arias coattails" didn't work, huh? That's too bad.

Hi,

Last pro to come out of the area. Most of the good junior players come out of "Rotten-chester". Buffalo is losing ground each year.. harder and harder to find good players and matches. Sorry to say. The local paper does not really even list HS tennis scores.

Regards,
Steve

Call it Rotten-chester all you want but it has the best tennis in NY. I can drive to the local courts in my town or the one next to mine and can usually find a good match. I dont participate in them but there aare a lot of leagues as well. If you wan really competive tennis go to Scarsdale, its amazing what five private lessons a week can do for your skill, and their free public courts are nice.
