Default Pros slated to play the Flexpoint Prestige

Anyone know any top pros who are going to switch to the Flexpoint Prestige?

If it stops raining here in LA I should get to hit one next week - can't wait.

Let us know how it plays. According to what the specs say it's a pretty stiff frame so I'm curious, as I'm sure many of the other visitors on the boards.

Will do. Just saw the updated weather forecast. Only supposed to rain Monday. If that's the case I hope I can hit it Tues or Wed.

PS - I'm going to hit the 93 sq in model (mid?)

PPS - I'm currently playing the Liquidmetal Prestige. Which I like. But I'm intrigued by the 'flexpoint' technology and want to give it a try.

I think there was a thread about it and Ivo Karlovic...except he has an Instinct paintjob?

EDIT: But it'll probably just be the guys who use the LM Prestige, like Safin.

Update: just picked it up. Hopefully So Cal dries out and I can get a hit in tomorrow - if so I'll give you my impressions tomorrow night.

As of now Wawrinka and Acususo use it. That's all I can think of currently.

Wawrinka maybe, Acasuso still uses the Prestige Classic 600 though.

well i have had mine for about 3 weeks now. I think that the frame is alot better then the liquid metal. The liquid metal has way to much power compared to the flexpoint. i also felt that my vollys were way better with the flexpoint and that you could feel the flex in the raquet.
(i also have the 93)

Kid, what's your problem and what's your point? I don't have the time to go around looking at pros rackets to see who's had a paintjob and who's actually playing the racket the manufacturer claims they are. And I don't read that many of the threads with the word 'paintjob' in their title - not all that interested - I understand the marketing game that's being played.

Are you saying no pros will ever play an actual Flexpoint?

Anyhow, for those who have the maturity higher than a 12 yr old (probably every one except snoflewis), here's my report:

The Flexpoint Prestige was strung with Head RIP Perfect Power 16 String at 57 lbs. I didn't add any tape under the handle (as I have on every Head I've used and currently have under my current racket, the Liquidmetal Prestige), nor did I add any lead at 10 and 2 (again as I have on my LM Prestige). I wanted to test the racket as Head designed it.

The weather sucked. The rain is gone from So Cal but the tail end of the front left big winds - gust between 20 and 30 mph. And my usual opponent couldn't get out of work - so I hit with a ball machine. And given the layout of the court I had to hit into the wind.

Within the first 5 shots I felt the flex technology - forehands and backhands coming off my racket with authority and no torque - and going EXACTLY where I wanted them to. And because I hadn't added any weight to the head and was able to get it through the hitting zone very fast, I was quite happy with the power of the shots. Volleying was an adventure because of the wind. But I was happy with the manueverability of the head. But I didn't feel the pop that my LM Prestige gives me, but that could have been the wind knocking down the shots. I hit a few serves, starting with 2nd serves. Didn't feel like I was getting quite as much spin as usual. Then I started hitting some flat serves - I was impressed with the pop.

IMHO, another great addition for those who like Head frames.

west coast ace,

im not trying to start an argument here and im not here to offend anyone, and i apologize if you found my previous post to be offensive. my point is that most pros, if not all, who have the flexpoint prestige paintjob will be using a different racket. if you see a closeup picture of the flexpoints, you will see that the dimple and hole are painted, as well as the LM ridges.

I'm sure i saw a pro using one like 2mths ago it had bumperguard and flexpoint thing but do not remember who it was, but its being played already.

Do you reckon its worth the dosh is flexpoint tech good for all of us who have only looked at it, or is it too flexy?

As an overview is it better or worse than liquidmetal

I'll accept that - but think before you post. Take a look at what you said - you make an amazing assumption that a complete stranger (me) studies photos of pros' rackets as much as you apparently do. Or that I can read between the lines of your post and somehow figure out you weren't attacking my intelligence.

I asked the question because while I know most pros won't play the actual racket (still can't believe some tennis playing lawyer hasn't sued for false advertising given our sue-happy society), there is a chance (more on the ladies' side) that someone might.

Actually, if you go to the page TW has added to the site - go to Head Rackets, select one of the Flexpoints, then select the Flexpoint Technology image - it makes sense. The holes 'encourage' the racket to give (flex) at those points and cushion the blow. I was thinking about doing a CAD (computer aided design) model of a racket and doing some FEA (finite element analysis).

although it may make sense if you consistently hit in the center of the racket, what if you are a player that hits higher on the racket? because the racket is "designed to bend" in the middle, if you hit towards the top, the racket would bend back further than a traditional racket, thus affecting control.
