Cool If the WTA banned screaming during points, would Sharapova quit the tour?

If so, I hope they ban screaming then.

If it annoys me this much watching it on TV, can you imagine how annoying it must be to Shreikapova's opponents?

She would probably pee on the court in defiance.

I agree with breakfast of champinions, there wouldn't be a tour. A lot of them have that habit, it's beyond grunting. I've seen some women playing on the court next to us and they screamed too, but they looked like they played D2 or D3 college tennis. I've never actually seen someone scream like that besides the WTA. Quite scary, in indoor courts, her shriek would echo.

Someone invent a wta tour muzzle. I wonder how loud she would shriek when she finally hits herself in the head with that forehand over the head finish of hers.

That would be stupid of they banned screaming. Midus well not have a WTA tour if someone is going to ban screaming. If the screaming is annoying change the channel or put your TV on mute. Screaming is part of Sharapovas game.

That would give all of us some rest. We were happy to get rid of Serena, now we got some grunt for the next 10 years. I would be mean I would ask Gunter Parche to do the WTA police...

OK, but shouting obscenities at my opponent is part of my game. Why doesn't the umpire allow me to do that as that's part of my game and my winning tactic?

Nothing would change cos as we all know, she doesn't need to shriek/scream/grunt at all during a tennis match - she can play perfectly well without all that.

I blame her shady father.

I guess Screamapova would want planes banned before they banned her from screaming.

WTA can't do much about her screaming. But handing out earplugs to the spectators is a nice gesture.

Untrue. Women's tennis sold more seats before Sharapova than they do now. For a short while, women's tennis was even more popular than men's tennis......until, that is, Maria came along. Now the WTA Tour is really struggling.

Don't you remember the empty arenas that Sharapova played in at the year-end WTA Championships in Los Angeles last November? They literally couldn't give tickets away. Many posters here reported that the promoters tried giving tickets to anyone in the L.A. area that would take them, but still nobody wanted them. Compare that to the packed houses at the ATP year-end Championships in Shanghai last year.

Not surprising, though, as who would pay a dime to see some giant, skinny beanstalk with blond hair and zits scream her head off on a tennis court? Gives everyone a headache. How annoying!

its pretty obvious you should probably get off your fat butt and stop watching so much TV anyway. your up to nearly 7000 posts, most of which, lack any intelligence. maybe go down to the local park and try hitting a ball against the backboard. if you can do that, you've made it to square 1.

Why dont players complain? I heard that Umpires could easily warn her for doing it, all they need is a complaint.

I certainly cant stand it, she just annoys the hell out of me.

wrong theres no rule against grunting. most of the women grunt anyway. maria just happens be the one who dwarfs everyone in earnings, and game. very few of the players even care.

Theres no rule about grunting, but they can complain that its offputting. Which it is.

Im allmost certain they can complain, allthough im not sure of the technicality.
