CBS showed him yesterday. His ex-wife was a babe 20 years ago. She still looks good. Yannick dated models, particularly blondes. Lucky dude.

but i read this on the net : THE 'GRAN WILLY' SHOT BETWEEN THE LEGS That famous shot between the legs is called in spanish 'la Gran Willy', because Guillermo Vilas invented it -- or perfected it. Yannick Noah shot it to fame in the early 80ies, when tennis started to have better worldwide coverage. I couldn't rest until I mastered that shot myself after watching on the TV Noah lob Jimmy Arias at the US Open when I was a kid; one thing I have to tell you is that you have to it that shot with a backhand grip... if you use your forehand grip, you'll never be able to have children again (if you know what I mean). And it's true players are feeling obliged to hit that shot even when they have time to do something better but not as spectacular -- and the worst example is the point Roger Federer lost on his match-point in the fourth set tiebreak against Marat Safin in the semis of the Aussie Open last year; he had the time to turn around and hit a forehand, but he tried to be fancy, lost that point and later on he lost the match -- at least we owe him a fifth set and the best match of 2005, but he lost a Grand Slam right there. I tried to confront him about that shot, but he won't admit he could hit a forehand: he's in denial. source: http://66.232.148.140/blogs/tenniswo...p?ENTRY_ID=835 so maybe yannick simply had the advantage of a better worldwide coverage... |

OK, let´s solve it like this: Vilas invented it, Noah spread it worldwide... fair enough?

Ummm pretty much everyone associates that shot with Yannick Noah. It is HIS shot. His son is a beast of a basketball player too and will be a top pick in the NBA draft.

Joakim is really good as a college player. So far, one of the leading candidates for player of the tournament. But I don't know how he will do in the NBA, he needs more meat!

Noah certainly needs more, but he has the most potential of anyone playing college basketball right now. The guy is 7 feet tall with really long arms and can handle the ball like a 2 gaurd. He is an incredible athlete and I suspect he and UF will be cutting down the nets with relative ease on Monday night.
