He dumped the Flexpoint Radical Tour and went back to Prince. Glad to see him make the move, his rankings dropped using the Head racket. I think he is back using a POG again.

Glad to see it. All of HEAD's money he turned away...he will be earning right back this season. The old fashioned way.

Glad he's got his confidence back. He can challenge Nadal on any surface. I hope he gets a shot at him (and RF) soon.

Well, it does sound right, seeing that we are talking about federer. Does it really look like JCF is doing that good to compete against Fed? I'm not watching Monte Carlo for the simple fact that I'm not able to. What's he doing differently? Any other weapon besides the forehand? Different Strat?

Not sure, if POG is a better racket, but at least it should give more confidence to Ferrero. I know Ferrero got lots of money but it was stupid for him to switch his rackets when his confidence was already shaky. I would love to see him play the way he used to play, when he was the king of clay.

Well, I think people are saying that he went back to it (POG), and I don't know about you but switching back to a racquet I previously used is a smooth transition for myself. And I do know he did use a Prince before so this must be true. But that can't be all that has changed with him is it? A racquet switch isn't gonna help him beat Fed, that's for sure.

I have yet to see one of his matches. Did the TTC broadcast the Chela match today? Ferrero is -150 against Ferrer +140. I like Juan Carlos in three sets.

I'll take Ferrer over Ferrero in the next round. If he manages to win that, I think it will be a pretty routine match for Federer. Ferrero is not what he used to be. He used to be dominant on clay, now he a run of the mill clay courter no better than Ferrer, Gaudio, Coria, Acasuso, Robredo, Horna, Volandri, etc.

As of now, Federer is perhaps one of the top two in the world on clay. The other is of course Nadal.

However, an in-form Coria or Ferrero would easily join those ranks. As would Guga circa 2000 or Muster back in the 80s or so (when did he make that spectacular run on clay?). However, Kuerten is basically done and Muster has been done for a long long while. Now we're left to see whether Coria or Ferrero can step up to challenge Federer and Nadal.

Coria is definitely a long shot. Came back from the brink to beat Mathieu with 20(!) double faults in that match.

JCF on the other hand, seems to be doing very well. We'll see how he does against Ferrer (great match IMO).

I think Ferrero will beat Ferrer in straight sets. He's definetely building up a lot of rhythm, and in this form, I can see him beating Federer. However, he might just lose tomorrow's match easily, in which case i'd be completely wrong, but I'm feeling that since he switched back to the POG his results are going to be much better this year than the last two years.

Webster's betting line has Juan Carlos favored by one vowel.

I saw some clip of Ferrero today. He seems to swinging like he used to. Not quite 100% but I think there is a good chance to at least see him swing with some authority. Ferrer is real sharp now, so it will be neck and neck.

Yeah, I saw a clip from his first round and he's definetely swinging more freely with the POG, but his strokes still aren't quite as crisp as they were in 2003. Maybe he just needs to play a few more matches with that racquet in order to find the rhythm again.
