Post how Bungalo Bill helped you.

For me, a big problem I had at one time was keeping score. I was getting scammed by the opposition every time:

"Hey Jimmy, I forgot the score - what is it?"

"Um, it's triple break point, for me."

"err, okay"

I usually serve 4 aces, but not all the time, so I decided I needed to learn how to remember the score better. Bill told me that I need to be focused around a solid game plan, so I'm not "just out there". It has helped ever since. Thanks!
Haha, good stuff. The best advice BB ever gave me was when I asked him about how to handle things when your opponent gives bad calls only during important moments. He told me to keep playing without change and no matter how things end up, always be prepared to shake hands at the end of the match. Then, when it looks like you're reaching out to shake hands, quickly grab his throat and apply your thumbs to his windpipe.
Great advice! I haven't lost since I did that!(Mainly because I have been banned from playing, but I digress because it's allowed me to save tons of cash from having to alleviate the rage through psychiatry).

So, congrats to BB, and thanks for all the advice!

And lookie here! Marius Hancu is coming up to 10,000!!! I wonder what moniker TW will bestow on that triumph? Hope it's a good one.

Congrats to Bungallo. He's given a lot of useful advice that has helped me a lot, but I'll just list one example for now otherwise this would be a very long post Since I use an eastern grip, I learned from him to keep my arm in sync by locking the wrist down and back.

Default Bill's tips..

Bill is the man. I was reading his tip about keeping your elbow close to your body on the forehand swing and it really seems to help. I was trying that today while also working on pointing your butt cap up at the ball for a topspin drive and I was hitting much better forehands.

Little tips like that can make a big difference. I was thinking about quitting tennis altogether with my forehand so messed up but now I have changed my mind. I had some long rallies today - and I give the credit to Bill.

1 - By challenging one of my Tips on a thread BB helped me write more clearly. I learned writing instructions is a whole lot different than speaking them to someone on the court.

2 - BB -- like my first karate instructor -- reminded me "you can learn something from almost every Instructor." (Granted, that "something" could very well be what never to do, but it's still ... something.)

Thanks for your many contributions, Bungalow -er- Bungalo Bill.

BB is a guy who has given a tremendous amount of time and energy to this forum. His advice has always been solid (take it to the bank stuff) that I think has helped everyone. Although I'm from a different generation (unfortunately on the wrong side), I've use several of his tips myself and passed many along to others.

Explaning tennis styles and techniques isn't that easy as others have said. I think BB has that special ability that few have. Good luck and hope to see another 10,000 posts.

His best comes out when he is angry. That's why some clever posters have incised him to get his best instructions!

I hope a time will come that experts like him will be respected and valued.

Who has the copyright to all the stuff that BB, Marius and others put out here? There is several times more info on tennis tips on TW than all tennis books combined. I have read a few, but you get only the author's opinion and the depth is not quite there. You also don't get the perspective of other readers on the gray issues - the common questions that everyone has when they get on the court and cannot do what they read in the book. At the same time, searching for threads here with info scattered all over is not convenient either.

Someone ought to put together a book. "The Encyclopedia of Tennis Instruction" like "The Encyclopedia of Tennis" by Bud Collins.

Mahboob,

You of all people know I learned from you. You provide awesome tips and you provide your tips with simplicity. My firey attitude may get things stirred up around here but you are well above me in keeping the peace.

You are a professional, a current tennis coach, a respected player, and love the game of tennis which you have devoted your personal life and career too.

You should be the one congratulated for keeping this tennis board for what it is today.
