How even the Fed haters hold Fed up to such high standards. It seems like if Fed doesn't win every single tourny he enters, it's a crisis. For the love of God, people, HE STILL MADE IT TO THE BLOODY FINAL!!! Where he indeed did lose, but lost to the almost unarguable #1 clay courter in the world, but not without giving him a run. If Fed makes it to the final of a clay tourny and loses to Nadal, Fed automatically sucks, all the slams he won count for nothing, and Nadal is the undisputed greatest of this generation. If Nadal were to make it to even the SEMIS of Wimby I'm sure people would be stating "Oh WOW!, he's playing soooooooooo good" and if he lost they would say something along the lines of "Oh, well, he plays best on clay anyway". I'm not bashing on Nadal, it's just that if Nadal is truly as great or so much greater than Fed as some of the cynical posters on this board say, why don't we hold him to the same standard?

Hewitt, you haven't been on these boards very long. Nadal is not very revered around here, in general. The only reason he gets respect, IMO, is that he does beat Fed. Otherwise, he'd just be another boring claycourter, which is how many view him anyway. But since he does beat Fed, they have to deal with him, which gives him a marginal amount of respect.

Of course I am strange. No arguments there. Hahha. Especially with the written word.

You do good work for your site.
You get beaten up a lot around here. You are just so cynical. Tired? Punchy. Sarcastic? I don't know anymore-sort of strange.
Hope you feel better.

Thanks re the compliment for the site. I enjoy it very much, especially this week. This is a banner week for us Rafa fans. No one can rain on our parade.

Things may be different later, but right now, I have no complaints.

Nadal is definitely not held up to the same standards as Federer. Honestly, it isn't such a big deal for Federer to lose to Nadal on clay. The surprising matches are when he beats Federer on hard court. Federer is still one of the best ever since he does so well on clay, which is something the past greats were not able to do.

Fed is not in any crisis. As a matter of fact he is doing better than he did in 2005. He has 562 race points vs 475 he had last year after Monte-Carlo. Also he has just two loses this year, just like he did last year at this point. Plus he won the only slam that we had this year. His entry ranking is at record high 7160 points!

So actually so far this year Fed is doing better than he ever did. Yes he did lose to Nadal. But he still is far ahead of him or anyone else in ranking points and that distance will increase again if Fed plays Rome.

What we have here is people who are very angry at Fed for spanking over and over and over again their favourite players. They have this buildup hate and resentment which they release when Fed occasionally loses. I bet half of those posters bashing Fed don't even particularly like Nadal. They just hate Fed more.
