This is a drill that my pro used to do with us when we were young, i think it probably does help.

Yes...it's a drill to help you hit "up" on the ball and also confine your service motion to just your upper body.
Similar to hitting serves while standing in ball hoppers. Isolate your lower body, so you improve technically with your upper body motion. (of course, being in ball hoppers does not really help you learn to hit up on the ball) |
