Fed needs to conserve his energy though by skipping the next tournament.

Federer and Nadal should skip Hamburg, let someone else win a tournament for once, and then Fed should go into the French Open and prove that he can win when it counts. It's okay to drop some Master's tournaments, but the French Open could do so much for his legacy that he's not going to go down easily. I just want Federer to win it once, and then Nadal can win every single other year, he deserves it. But Federer deserves to have the complete Grand Slam, because he's a complete player.

My crystal ball is in the shop getting the horizontal hold fixed, but I'm going with Fed to win the French Open.

Yesterday's match has made me seriously think that Federer does have a realistic chance of winning this year's French Open beating Nadal in the final. I perceive a firm determination on the swiss to take that title. If he does, I have no doubt the complete Grand Slam will become his inmediate objective.
I just hope Rafael starts to enhance and maintain his performance on hard courts to consistently challenge Roger -not only on clay. |

I think Federer will win as well. This is what it's all been about. All of these matches have been practice for the French - which is why he played completely differently in Rome than he did in Monte Carlo. He's pretty much figured it out, he just needs to step it up a notch on the big stage. He hasn't dropped a Grand Slam final yet, so he's my pick.
I thought Safin would do well earlier this year, but now...with him, you can't even make a prediction. |

In Roma, Fed had a more close (and longer) matches than Rafa. Does the fact that all rounds of Roland Garros being 3 out of 5 sets affect how each player will perform?
I could easily see Nadal playing a bunch of three-setters with the occasional four-setter. Meanwhile, I can see Federer playing only a few three-setters and a bunch of four-setters, with maybe a five-setter thrown in there somewhere. |

Well, Fed had to play Almagro and Nalbandian. Nadal had to play...Monfils.
I would actually say that Federer wins on clay more easily than Nadal. Nadal works a lot harder out there, but they both generally get straight set wins. |

Rafael Nadal will take Roger Federer down in the French Open final. I would be surprised if the match went to the 5th set.

Roger is getting closer with every meeting. He should have won Sunday. All the pressure was on Nadal as the favorite and to break Vilas's record.

Man, it would be pretty cool if Safin made the final or even the semis, but I must admit, I would probably bet against him getting through four matches there this year. |
