Default Damn and blast the English rain !!

The rain delay is now close to 3hrs

Every time they come out and warm up, down it comes again.

What a great way to spoil a perfect morning.

I'm telling you....if it is not ESPN, it is the damn English rain......
this Wimbledon has truly sucked (in terms of being able to SEE the matches on TV)...

Imagine the odds... ESPN is showing tennis for 4hrs today, instead of their usual pathetic 5-7am, Federer was making great shots from the 1st point, I made the coffee, life was good.

This was my ONE chace to watch a full Fed match before the finals, and this is what happens. Arrghhh...

Yeah, what I truly hate about rain delays is the tape selection that ESPN has. They never go to a match they haven't already shown, they don't show us any doubles play for a change, and they don't ever stray away from their American theme! It drives me crazy.

Yeah, I agree. They should show us some classic matches like the 1977 Borg-Gerulaitis semifinal (or any other Borg match) or the 1999 Sampras-Agassi final (or any other Sampras match). I would love to see those again!

I think they should just move Wimbledon to somewhere with better weather, like CALIFORNIA, where it NEVER rains in the summer! How about it A.E.L.T.C?

You'd think the British would've been bright enough to build center court with a roof, seeing as how it's always raining over there. But, nooooo.

No roof in sight no and it would be way to costly considering the size of the thing. And they can't blame the 'tradition' since they built Arthur Ashe something like 7 years ago.

Would make sense to have some work done on Grandstand though looking at how it is built.

At least at Wimbledon when it rains, they cover the court in <30s, then when it stops, play resumes immediately.

At the US Open, we get treated to the almost comical sight of 200 guys on their knees wiping the court with rags or drying with hand blowers. Its pretty ironic that the worlds biggest superpower also has th emost low tech tennis tournament

And Wimbledon has its years of tradition, the aura and magic of Centre Court (even they are finally gonna build a roof). Arhtur Ashe has no such pretensions.

The net post on the concreate is not the same as the take-downs on the grass, hence no cover in Flushing.

They are gonna show the Fed match in the evening, which is fine, it will be easier for taping anyway.... there is no suspense factor anyway, should be routine straights for fed.

Last time I taped Fed-Safin Aussie final and watched it 100 times, the tape is really worn out, time to record something fresh.

yea lol those squeegie kids at the us open kinda remind me of little ants working in ther ant hill. Seems a lil primitive. surprised those kids dont get frustrated doing it so often. if it starts rainin again 30 sec. after they finished they gotta go back out ther. i wud get so annoyed if i wer one of those kids.

I love my British weather, it just wouldn't be Wimbledon without it. I am actually posting from Wimbledon's players cafe at this very moment. I have seen Federer and it has made my day, even though I didn't get to see him finish the match.

Godbless Wimbledon!!!

It's just idiotic to say that Wimbledon wouldn't be Wimbledon without the rain.

What you're saying is that you are happy to be sitting in a cafe surfing the web when you could see live tennis. Point taken.
