Default How to hit the 2HBH down the line!

I recently switched to a 2HBH, I'm a right hander, my right hand takes the racquet with a grip between eastern backhand and neutral, and my left hand take the racquet with an eastern forehand grip. I can rally crosscourt as much as I want with excellent consitency and average pace, but I struggle to hit it down the line!

Any help, tips, drills or to improve my DTL 2HBH what is the correct footwork, what are the best grips to hit it? Please describe the correct stroke mechanic.

I'd like to hit it down the line, take the ball pretty early, and have a Safin/Nalbandian type of trajectory (not to high over the net, and almost flat or just the minimum of topspin to obtain some security without losing too much speed)

One of the good things about a two hand backhand is that you can disguise your intentions (cross court vs. down-the-line). However, when hitting down the line you want to make a point of keeping the racquet face going in the direction of the "target" (in this case down the line)---after contact, exaggerate your followthrough by extending the racquet face forward.

A good drill is to hit backhands using just the doubles alley. Stand behind the baseline while you and your partner hit groundstrokes to each other using just the doubles alley--straight shots back and forth, nothing crosscourt. Hitting straight down the narrow alley will make you aware of extending out towards your target, i.e. you won't be so prone to pulling off the ball.

Aim with your right shoulder(if you're right handed) and close your stance.
