from http://www.gettyimages.com/Error.asp...tails_pop.aspx to http://www.gettyimages.com/Error.asp...ls_pop.aspx??? Shocking indeed. I'm blaming gay republicans for this one.

So you guys seemed to miss the whole point of tennis, which is a celebration of skill, power, talent, mental strength and in the end, the taste of victory. Chill out about the clothes.
Spot on. I don't like to look fancy and elitist when I play. I do occasionally splash a fair bit of cash maybe twice a year on shorts, and I have the shoes, but the whole collared shirt thing just bothers the f*ck out of me. The pros are OK, but with everyone else, no. When I play at clubs that don't require fancy clothes, I just bring my two racquets, tennis shoes, a pair of Nike shorts and a T-shirt. I don't care about looking good, I let my game and how I carry myself on court impress people, not how I dress. If people stop and watch me play a point or hit a few balls, I don't want it to be because they think I'm dressed properly, I want them to stop and watch because I have a solid game and play tennis quite well. I think it's funny to see a guy carry himself like an elite, jackass snob who thinks he's better because of how he dresses on the court (yet can't even hold or swing a racquet properly) get his *** handed to him by someone who dresses humbly. I do have a few tennis-specific clothes, and some athletic clothes that are designed to absorb sweat, or keep you cool or whatever the hell they're supposed to do, but I don't break them out unless it's really hot and I know I'll be playing for a while OR I don't have anything else to wear.

It would if a billion people all gave $80 each to a giant corporation.

If everyone else today was still wearing the "nuthugger" shorts of the 70's and 80's, so would you. It's just the cyclical nature of fashion. People wear what they see the pros wearing on TV and what everyone else is wearing on the courts. The only reason you wear the long shorts today is because that's what all the current pros are wearing and what everyone wears on the courts. If you wore the long "basketball" shorts back in the 70's, you would be laughed at as much as if you wore the short "nuthugger" shorts today because they would be so unfashionable for the time period.

BTW, this is what "real" basketball shorts look like.

But what about the people who dress well AND can play great tennis AND are better than most people who don't dress well?
