Can you give us more info? What happens when you make an error? How long have you been playing tennis? What kind of ball do you make an error on? Is its high ball? Low ball? What grips are you using? What level are you? Is it the forehand or the backhand that causes the breakdown? Do you consider yourself in good shape? When you say rally do you mean a point rally or practice (warmup) rally? etc. etc.

Practice against a wall until you can keep your rallies going against the wall. Most beginners are not going to be able to rally from the baseline and this is why I like to start teaching beginners to rally from the service line "mini-tennis" Once you can control your stokes from the service line, you can start moving back towards the baseline. If you are not hitting the ball correctly or are not sure then make sure to get some good coaching or a lesson so you learn proper technique then practice, practice, practice ...

In general, I see so many people trying to make shots that they have no idea of how to execute properly. They seem to be more interested in how fast they can hit without much apparent interest in where the ball is going - maybe its a boy thing.

Working with a brother - sister combination this morning and the boy (13) was just trying to whale the ball on every shot. When I was able to get him to show down, get out of the baseball stance and concentrate of the ball, he actually hit the ball well (sort of) - hard to teach some kids to use their legs, hips, etc -- they seem to think its all arm. The sister (15) was more interested it striking the ball properly and I had to encourage her to hit harder - some major problems on her forehand and service motion but a wonderful two handed backhand.
