Racket Queening

I have 2 O3 Tour MPs, 1 Redondo MP, 1 Heritage Type C98, 1 Prince Graphtech DB110 and a Donnay Pro One OS. Everytime I go out to hit around or practice, it seems that I unintentionally hit with a different racket. I always find myself thinking "I love this racket" and "I love the way this racket does this or that" Do I need to get rid of the other rackets and concentrate on one?! My friend calls me a racket *****...am I? Does anyone else "racket *****"!? And to top it off, I've been eyeballing the RDS001 MP, RDX005 and the Technifibre 325. I guess I'm hopeless.

i have the same problem and yes i do feel dirty about it. after one match where in three sets i used four different rackets i went home and just started scrubbing myself in the shower until my skin turned red. i then started sobbing and slowly slid down the side of the shower wall and collapsed in the floor knowing what i had become...

Rod, it depends whether you're playing for fun or tournament.

If you're playing tournaments often, I'd suggest you stick to one racket model and get the best out of it.

If you're playing for fun, just enjoy as many rackets as you wish.

I'm a racket p i m p. I order my rackets to work for me, like you know, "Now, Redondo, it's time for you to hit the court." And after a while, "OK, BlackAce, it's your turn."

I'm the exact opposite! I prefer as fewer rackets as possible.

Sounds like somebody is in DENIAL!!!!!
Especially when you have 2 different racquets in your signature...

I am a one frame at a time guy. I played with the RDX 500 for quite some time, but I progressed to the point where it was just too powerful. I was hitting long a little too often. So I demoed a lot of frames and found one that I liked better. The Pure Storm 98. Since switching I haven't picked up and hit with the RDX once. I am planning on selling them to some worthy individual. I still think they are great frames, but I don't want to mess with the rapport I've built with the Storm.

Mileslong you crease me up severely........

I'd also like to deny my denial, but ..........(theres a saying that everything before the but is BS)

I'm with Anirat on this one, when you go to the court, they all like a hit. THe only thing that varies is the order. Just delve into the bag of goodies and pick one.

GAS.......'gear aquisition syndrome'
only one cure, get another racquet if you have the urge. Asking for opinions is just looking for supporting evidence to justify the purchase. I can only feel gratutude for discovering the classified section rather than paying retail for my 'gas' relief.

Don't do it!! Pick one and play it!! Before you are forever lost (like the rest of US...) ;)

I wanted to use my stringer for the first time today. I have had it for atleast 6 months probably longer. Problem was that by the time I dug through all my rackets trying to find the one I wanted to string, I was out of time. Watch out man, you'll end up with a closet full of them and when you want one, it takes all day to find the one you want.

Remember, it's NOT your fault. There are racket goblins that run around at night and whisper into bedrooms "try that RDS, that RDS will make you a better player by 2 levels, the sweetspot is so big on the RDS, you just have to try it....." etc. These goblins, they can hypnotize you when you least expect it--generally when you are broke. The only cure is to dig a 6' x 4' shallow ditch, 2' deep, and have all your tennis buddies come over and throw rackets on you while you lay in the ditch, that is, after you have drank several brewski's.

Ha ha, absolutely priceless!

Just wait till you're married with kids, and it's much harder finding an excuse for the wife why you NEED another new racquet when there are a dozen in the closet. This is when the sweet lovely lady you married transforms into a green-eyed, red-faced goblin who'll threaten to chuck them all into the compactor, never to see the light of day once more.

A solution to this is to bring the goblin out on shopping sprees so that assignment of guilt is well-dispersed.

I hope my wife won't read this .... ;) Wouldn't bother her much anyway because I've bought her a spanking new O3 White this year!

My cool wife is my racquet pimp...

She goes to garage sales on weekends and picks up vintage frames for me. Lots of Kramer Autographs, T2000s, and occasionally something exotic like an Ashe Competition...

I'm mostly a racquet voyeur, though... all look, no touch. I'm faithful to my N6.1 (that's my story, and I'm sticking to it)

LMAO. I knew there were outside forces.

I just got a Wilson H Rival because my buddy was at a shop that was dumping them for $30. Why not right? Actually, this racket kinda sucks.

I suffer from it too.

When you see that guys like Sampras used the same racquet for so long, it only enforces how much your game needs to improve. Once you're good..you don't want to change things. I change a lot because I ain't good!! A poor craftsman blames his tools. I blame my tools almost every match.

As for "GAS", I am a guitar player, and they are way worse than tennis players, and it is a much pricier pursuit. The cheapest guitar that is ever worth buying is $200, and most around $1000.
