nothing wrong with going bald. What's more important is having self-confidence and walking with a bit of a swagger!

All of you guys are great! Just sayin.

I wanna see the full thing. No hat, no cover-up!

Which user here was it who constantly had that mock up of bald Nadal as an Avatar? It needs to come back!

This dude looks pretty amazing without hair. I think he's fairly good at surfing. I think Nadal can rock the bald look.

Not sure if Rafa has the confidence yet to play in front of thousands with the bald head. He's covering it up with a ski cap on a warm day with just a few people around.

Too bad cause the shaved head look is cool.

Yeah, I am a mad roid abuser. That time I had to take 4 pills because of an allergic reaction. Yep, I'm sure that is what caused my cue ball. Even if I was already 2 all over before I took a steroid.

With the Trump victory Tuesday, expect more ways to get that Donald look. How would Rafa do with an orange comb-over weave? Something in the color vein of the clay at RG...

Sadly, hair loss is almost entirely genetic.

Tennis players are amongst the upper echelon of men in terms of athletic ability and healthy diet, yet numerous top players are suffering from noticeable hair loss, in their 20's and 30's. Nadal, Murray, Federer, Gasquet, Dimitrov, Cilic, etc. - and that's just the guys who have hit their mid-20's. Even Djokovic has some slight temple recession, and lack of hair density, and has been sprouting premature grey hairs for quite a while.

You dont' need that man. you can get a Hair transplant now and look just like when you did when you were young... Look at these results. Only thing is this is not Cheap. it is like $10,000 to 30,000. but it is definitely worth it if you want all your hair back. Would you do it ??

This is not entirely true.

You can only get a hair transplant if you have a viable donor area. That is to say, that they need a region of your head with consistent hair growth to graft on to the skin on your scalp which has lost hair follicles.

This is more of a ''desperation'' attempt at delaying the inevitable, which doesn't alter the root cause.

If you look at people like like Jurgen Klopp and Antonio Conte, they still have really thin hair and high hairlines, despite spending thousands on hair transplants. And let's not even go into Wayne Rooney territory.

Tennis players seem to have a low incidence of hair loss, from what I can tell. Overall I mean and particularly in the recent generation of players. They also have poor facial hair growth. Feminization of the sport IMO.

if you use Rogaine as soon as you notice some hair thinning on top of your head, can this prevent the hair loss and enable you to keep your hair that you have ??? I know if you start using Rogaine, you have to keep using it forever.

Yeah you do. It also has some nasty side effects which may affect performance in other areas of the body.

you are probably thinking of Finesteride/ Propecia. That is a Pill and you take it once a day. and that can cause Impotence, albeit small % of guys. but I haven't heard of Rogaine spray causing that. I am just noticing hair thinning on top of my head, and I am afraid if I just leave it alone, it will go bald in about 1-2 years. So I am thinking about using the Rogaine foam to prevent further hair loss.

Have you been using Rogaine and how has it worked for you ? Thanks

As far as I'm aware, Minoxidil (Rogaine) helps to spread the flow of blood - and, consequently, nutrients - to the scalp, which may help to retain some hairs, and regrow some hairs from recently grown follicles.

Unfortunately, though, it won't make any major improvement to the situation.

Yes, it varies on how much it helps from guy to guy. for some guys, it can make significant improvements. but just not sure When I should start using it since I just started noticing the hair loss. If I start using it now, then I have to use it forever everyday. that is the deal with this Rogaine spray due to if you stop using it, hair will just accelerate fall out.
but Doctors and guys have said that it does prevent further hair loss in most guys, results do vary however.

Almost every guy can rock a bald look if they do it correctly. Nadal will be fine. Bald especially works on guys who are in good shape physically.

The maintenance is a little bit more time, but still not bad. I usually shave (my head) two or three times a week.

I disagree.

Considering that tennis players are only really visible in their 20's and 30's, they appear to have quite a high incidence of hair loss.

Even Thiem, at 23, isn't looking too great - and I'm not talking about his current capitulation to Djokovic.

Like 1/3 of guys here are bald by 30. Same with UFC fighters. In tennis it's like 10% if that. A bit of hairline recession by your 20s is the absolute norm. Over half of people get that.

There's a huge difference between ''bald'' and ''balding''.

Other sports, such as football and rugby union, don't appear to have such a large number of young athletes who are noticeably balding.

It seems to depend largely on ethnicity. I can say that Dolgopolov and Stakhovsky have far better hair than the average 28-30 year old Ukrainian. But they also look unusually dorky for Ukrainians, which is par for the course for tennis players post-2005. Sampras, Agassi, Blake, Roddick, etc. are just a different type of guy than Murray, Djokovic, etc.

Isn''t ''Davydenko'' a Ukrainian name?

He didn't exactly have the hair of Dolgopolov or Safin...

He's from the east. They are completely different from proper Ukrainians ie central/west. If they have a ukrainian name it is probably from some distant lineage. Or maybe they are half Ukrainian like Fedor Emelianenko.

Also, Safin is tatar, which is an ethnic minority in Russia. He also can't grow any facial hair, which strongly correlates with hair loss or lack thereof.

Hair transplantation is a surgical technique that moves hair follicles from a part of the body called the 'donor site' to a bald or balding part of the body known as the 'recipient site'. It is primarily used to treat male pattern baldness. In this minimally invasive procedure, grafts containing hair follicles that are genetically resistant to balding, (like the back of the head) are transplanted to the bald scalp. Hair transplantation can also be used to restore eyelashes, eyebrows, beard hair, chest hair, pubic hair and to fill in scars caused by accidents or surgery such as face-lifts and previous hair transplants. Hair transplantation differs from skin grafting in that grafts contain almost all of the epidermis and dermis surrounding the hair follicle, and many tiny grafts are transplanted rather than a single strip of skin.

Since hair naturally grows in groupings of 1 to 4 hairs, current techniques harvest and transplant hair "follicular units" in their natural groupings. Thus modern hair transplantation can achieve a natural appearance by mimicking original hair orientation. This hair transplant procedure is called follicular unit transplantation (FUT). Donor hair can be harvested in two different ways: strip harvesting, and follicular unit extraction (FUE).

That explains the shaving of the back of the head.
