Southampton into the EFL Cup final. Hopefully there will be no complications tomorrow with booking our ticket to Wembley.

Meanwhile, 2nd leg of Copa del Rey between Celta and Real in Vigo ended 2-2. With the 2-1 away win at the Bernabeu, Celta have shown Los Blancos the exit door.

Not good enough over the two legs. Pity as I wanted a Liverpool-Manchester United final. Now the Red Devils have it easier. Also Mourinho has enjoyed this competition over the years so it's a great chance for silverware.

Not that it's something extremely important, but seeing Real Madrid's dreams for the treble shattered made me smile. It remains Barca 2, Celtic/Ajax/PSV/Manchester United/Inter/Bayern Munich 1, Madrid 0 :p

Tactical tank. The schedule would have been just too demanding for Liverpool if they reached a final. Don't be surprised if they take an early exit in the FA Cup too. ;) As for the latter, total catastrophe. From 40 matches unbeaten run to hardly winning any. Barcelona must be licking their lips watching this.

These kinds of videos should be shown to young beginners who obviously expect everything to click from the very beginning. Even the best players have embarrassing moments on the pitch from time to time. Ronaldo had even worse misses than that one from today.
Barcelona must be licking their lips watching this.
I will believe in a meltdown if I see us overtaking Real Madrid and Sevilla in the table at some point. Until then it's not in our hands. Even in Copa we need to seal qualification to the semifinal tomorrow by avoiding defeat against Sociedad at home (we won 1-0 away), while meeting Atletico Madrid in one of the last two stages would be inevitable. As we all know, they have shown in the last 3-4 years that they can be competitive and beat anyone, and it can get very nasty physically.

Strong line-up for a League Cup. I guess Man United don't want to take any risks with their 2-0 lead.

Well done by Pogba there.

Meanwhile, waiting for that Man United penalty like...

Good a time as any to lose a match. Yeah, you want to keep the run going, but this should be a kick in the rear end. Hopefully it is.

We're off to Wembley.

The unbeaten run ends at 17. Couldn't have picked a better game to end that.

For your 54th birthday, you get tickets for Wembley. Happy birthday Jose!
that haircut though...

Also, we got another centurion tonight. Well done.

Poor display from Man United considering they had a strong line-up out there. No harm in losing that game I guess, the final place is theirs and a really solid chance for holding another cup...

Messi playing part in all of the 5 goals. Defending still needs fixing. Key moment was early in the 2nd half when Cillessen saved what should have been a goal for Sociedad, and we got a penalty from the next counter. If it were 1-1, they would have needed only one more goal. Very glad that drama was avoided.

Denis Suarez definitely using those minutes well after Busquets got injured, that's 3 goals in the last 2 games for him.

Ah cheers, nice for a change. :)

Anyways, not too bothered - if Southampton actually turn up for the final (that's a big if mind), they'll beat United. Comfortably.
His goals are usually offside?

If United play like today, definitely. Otherwise, nope.

How many offside goals have United scored thiss season? It feels like they get away with one every week, honestly. Probably yeta another coincidence like. ;)

Didn't watch as I said but I've been impressed with Southampton credit to them(though their fans are terrible) - assuming they play with the hunger/desire they did against us and don't bottle it/bend over they are favourites in my mind. United have been largely unimpressive even during their winning run, feels like they're there for the taking. Btw heard their away fans were singing about us after Pogba scoredo_O, the usual vile ****, never in doubt. Obsessed bellends.

Winning by forfeit if the United coach takes a detour and gets lost in the Isle of Man.

Fingers crossed:p;)

Barcelona draw Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey semifinal. First match at Vicente Calderon on 1st of February, second match will be played one week later.

Celta de Vigo and Deportivo Alaves are the other two semifinalists.

Stop blowing things out of proportion. ;)

I am sure neither side wastes a chance to poke the other from time to time.

Barcelona have just gotten themselves into some form finally. I think we will see weekly thrashings by the hands of Barca from now on.

You probably are too. :D Manchester United bus is lost in Cleveland.

Southampton have a chance. I haven't seen any of their cup run and I'm now doubting that it has been good. I don't think their run matters all that much in a one off match like this. You just know I'm always going to take United. And if United are there for the taking, then I'm sure they will be taken before that match and if they haven't been then are they really there for the taking?

It definitely looks brighter now than it was 1-2 months ago. But we have to play even better if we want to succeed in La Liga and Champions League.

Listen mate, I'm fine with a bit of banter and all that of course but these chants are absolutely disgraceful and embarrassing for youse,if you know what they are about I'm sure you agree judging by your posting history on here. Obviously the majority of the United match going fans (I'd like to think) have realised that it's totally out of order, the culprits usually their away fans - people behind them chants should have their cards confiscated/thrown out of the ground, scum of the highest order.

Their league cup run has been really impressive, haven't conceded a goal so far and theyve played some decent premier league sides - they were brilliant defensively, got their tactics spot on in both games against Liverpool. as for united we shall wait and see how it goes, last three matches they needed an offside goal against Liverpool at OT to avoid defeat, 90th minute equaliser at Stoke and lost to hull City lol. You're right however, final is a one off pretty much anything can happen in these games, Southampton have nothing to lose so hopefully they won't bottle it.

Never paid attention to that much since I focus on the game. I am against any too provocative and insulting chants, no matter which club we are talking about. I believe every single one has that minor part that can't control themselves and they are unfortunately the ones that tend to stand out.

Great Lampard interview by Jamie Carragher in the Daily Mail tomorrow. Thinking back to those games, that era and the players back then. Without a doubt the peak of the Premier League, 3 teams in the Champions League semis etc..

There are some good young English players, but the likes of JT, Carragher, Lampard and others were probably the last of the old school breed. They just don't make them like that anymore.

Just in case there was any confusion. :p

My response earlier was meant to read I'm not doubting that the cup run has been good. Instead, it says I'm now doubting that it is good. Grrr. Yes, I'm doubting their quality because you said otherwise. haha Nah. I just made an error.

See Doc, told you it wouldn't be surprising. Managed to beat fourth tier Plymouth after a replay but second tier Wolves were too much to handle. Three games in three competitions, three Anfield losses.

A bit of a puzzle Liverpool is, as they have actually done very well against highly ranked Premier League teams.

Jamie Carragher was going about them not having enough depth in their squad. Might have something to do with it.

Spurs losing 2-0 to Wycombe at the minute.

Better be careful with Wigan tomorrow, after all they have won the FA Cup few years ago.

If Wolves show the same hunger and desire, they would be favorites against Man United, no? :D

Ehm, not really unlike Southamtpon they're actually a pretty average side - but then again it was their cup final, one of them days. Anyway I think United should be more worried about the league and chasing 5th placed City. 10 wins in a row, was it? And still 6th! Unlucky. :D

Pep will get way too many Welcome to the EPL slaps to stay above us. In EPL, there were 6 wins in a row at one point. The problem is that the Theater of Dreams has been more like the Theater of Draws recently. :D

Oh well, not too arsed - who cares about the FA cup anyway. On to Chelsea.

Half expected it given our recent form, really no choice than to play a lot of kids to be honest with Chelsea in 3 days, no better match to kick start our season than Chelsea. Not as confident as I would've been about a month ago, but Mane should be back in some capacity at least and nobody's been better than us against the top six this season.

FA Cup 5th round draw is out.

Burnley v Lincoln City
Fulham v Tottenham
Blackburn Rovers v Manchester United
Sutton United v Arsenal
Middlesbrough v Oxford United
Wolves v Chelsea
Huddersfield v Manchester City
Millwall v Derby County or Leicester City

Damn you Liverpool, we would have had a really fun match if you defeated Wolves. @Feña14 it's your grandad's guys against yours. ;)

Meanwhile, Man United are getting linked with Griezmann.

You can buy all the great strikers but if wastefulness in front of goal continues it's just going to be a bigger tragicomedy.

United have been linked with Griezmann since last summer. He will be good to have since United will be heading back to the champions league, most likely. Probably had one of those deals with Atletico- you give another year of your best and we wont stand in your way next summer.

Wouldn't you just know it

I'll probably be going, the Wolves ground literally a 5 minute drive from me. My sister parks at the stadium for work, I can see the stadium from my office.

So yeah, hoping to win that one and avoid a barrage of abuse!

Let's go Liverpool.

Chelsea take the lead after a quite audacious free kick from Luiz. Real nice, I have to say.

Random comment

Number 1 goalkeepers that use a number that isn't 1, deserve any deflections or whatever that go in against them. Just 1 of those things in life that annoy me. Number 1 should be number 1.
