Dunlop quality

I just wanted to give some positive feedback on dunlop racquets. I have always used either head or wilson in the past, but in the past 6 months or so have come to like dunlop racquets for their feel and quality. I started out with the maxply, which was an ok racquet, but quickly moved to the 200 plus 2006 version. Since then I have filled my bag with dunlop racquets because I just love the feel of them. I was also in the market for a new bag, so I decided to get the Mfil red bag. The bag's quality just blew the head 06 tour bag away. With every purchase of a dunlop product I have been impressed. The quality of the racquet for the price is just unbelievable. My 150 dollar head and wilsons in the past had flakey paintjobs, poor quality control and so on. The Dunlops however are exquisit. The extras like the case they come in are also top of the line also. I don't mean to be so biased, I just felt like tooting Dunlops horn. They sell a quality product and a very reasonable price. I hope the new Aerogel line holds up to what I have discovered to be a quality racquet company.

ps. As a stringer, I see just about all of the brands of racquets and the two that stand out for quality in my opinion are prokennex and dunlop.

I heard that Dunlop may go out of business and stop making tennis rackets all together because they were in financial trouble....
yes thats true because they wouldnt manufacture enough extra length rackets so you better dump all your dunlop/slazenger stock right now!

I heart the quality of Dunlop and ProKennex frames as well. And yet both brands experience little popularity. I guess big budgets and mass marketing really do work.

It's good not to be a sheep.

Yeah, I just played a tournament and everyone had a wilson, prince, babolat, or head... except my court, Yonex vs. Dunlop.

I agree with most of the things you said, I love the feel of dunlop raquets and used a Dunlop 300G for 3 years, i wouldn't let it go because the feeling of other raquets were so different. BUT, BUT on the downside, the reason i switched was the durability my 300G broke almost as fast as the string thats why i switched to a Babolat Pure Storm team mp

are their sticks' quality that high?

I demoed a Mfil 200 2006 and I thought it felt kinda cheap and a bit too LIGHT. Maybe its because of the paintjob or material I dunno.
Should I get the Mfil 200 2006 or the Tight 320?
If I was to get the Mfil, I would add lead tape to ~12oz. and paint it all black tho.

@Blabit: does your Mfil 200 2006 have yellow grommets and head guard too?

I'll chime in on supporting Dunlop's ability to put out quality products at relatively reasonable prices.

I bought some Dunlop HM200gs with a black International Series six pack bag. The individual frames themselves came with quality covers and the bag is very well made.

Also, the frames that I bought were very close in weight and balance.

Great stuff.

I play with Wilson racquets but perfer dunlop balls and bags. If I had to get new sticks I'm pick up some Mfils for sure.

I definately agree with everything you said!!

I love dunlop racquets/bags.. I currently own 2 dunlop M-Fil 300's and a dunlop m-fil red bag. It is amazing what quality these frames/bags have. I am considering of getting a 3rd Dunlop M-Fil 300 and an Aerogel later on..

OMG Rafa, haha.. I don't think anyone knows that yet. K-Factor hasn't been released so there is basically no way to compare both the racquets, you will have to wait awhile for that question to be answered.

I have no clue if Aerogel is going to be the best line of racquets. IMO I think it might be, seems like a great racquet!!

Man, you guys are making me want a Dunlop. Now, the M-Fil 200 or 300?

I'd say if you're more S&V and prefer a more head-light stick...200. More baseline and/or higher % of doubles, 300. I play about 20-30% S&V, depending on how my knees are feeling, rest of the time I'm hitting angles and looking for a chance to close and hit a winner on a short ball or finish at the net, and M-Fil 300 works perfectly w/my game.

Lighter weight of 300 gives you some room to mod and still keep the overall weight low, if you wanted to. I hit mine w/just a bit of lead in the handle.

Both are very solid. Both have more feedback on frame or very near frame hits than some racquets, but are still comfy. I have shoulder and elbow issues and find the M-Fil 300 very comfortable, zero arm issues w/it.

I agree with all the posts, dunlop quality is awsome! I own a M-Fil 200, 300 and 400 and the quality is great. Dunlop do a great job with their racquets but i wish more people would use them. Where i live in the UK if you ask someone what they think of dunlops they say "cheap" or "crap". Even though i dont play with a dunlop i will be trying the new Aerogel 100.

The yellow grommets are because it is a demo, all dunlop demos have yellow grommets. The mfill 200 2005 version is right at 12.4 oz if that is what you want. no lead needed

Is Dunlop really great or most of us are comparing their racquets with the Heads & Wilsons? I have owned 3 Princes, 2 Heads, 2 Volkls, 2 Babolats, 2 Yonexs, 1 Wilson & 1 PK (in my tennis life). I have to say they are all good quality except for the 2 Heads & 1 Wilson...... Dunlop & the others are within the standard, and Wilson & Head are below standard, that how I see it.

I have owned wilson and head and agree that their quality is far below the dunlops I have owned. It amazes me that they are such huge racquet companies. Marketing does work I suppose.

Totally agree, blabit. Wow, didn't know there was so much love for Dunlop. I thought I was an exception.

I must first clarify that IMO, loosely put, the definition of 'quality' is really conformance to specifications first and everything else afterwards. The 'feeling' of cheapness or 'not put together properly' that some posters allude to when talking about Dunlop is subjective and does NOT mean compromised quality.

Here is my experience:

I bought an M-Fil 200 2006 (std length) and bought another 2 months later (both from TW). They were strung with identical strings. At the post-office, their static wt was 3.5 grams from each other. I replaced these with a pair of HM200G's, which were purchased 2 weeks from each other, both from TW. Strung with KLIP Legend 16, a Yonex Supergrap and a Dunlop vibration dampener (the rectangular one that comes with the HM200G) each, the diff in static wt between these 2 frames is 3 grams.

I have owned Head Instinct twins, Head Radical twins, Wilson nSix-One 95 18x20 twins in the recent past and as per my limited experience, Dunlop wins in quality.

Great news for me!, I just bought a 200G to give it a try. I was surprised about the specs, I didnt knew Dunlops were such a low-powered frames. For those who owns them, wich one is better... M Fil 200 or 200 G 95?

I cannot answer your question but I'm sure somebody else will. I have owned the M-Fil 200 2006 (the lighter, open-string pattern one) and not the M-Fil 200, and I now own the 200G 95. It would be inaccurate to compare the M-fil 200 2006 and the 200G 95 since they are totally diff frames.

I can say this about the 200G though - this is a superb frame, which has excellent control (laser-like precision), is very stable and is very flexy (outstanding old-school feel).

Agreed. Bags are tough and do not fall apart. Racquets are tough and do not fall apart. Makes me play tougher and not fall apart.
