Huge news about Federer's racket!!!

Well, as we've all found out, Federer shanks even more with a larger racquet!

It's not his fault he's shanking more as he gets older, HE'S SHRINKING in his old age.

C'mon guys, have a heart for one of the elder statesmen of our beloved sport.

Who probably should give it away while he's at the top ( or at least top what is he now, top 6?)

Poor old bugger!

Although Federer has a lifetime contract with Wilson, he is using a Tecnifibre racquet at the Shanghai Masters tournament?

Right...

I'll have to measure it then I suppose and see to it if indeed it is. Unlike the 93 prestige, I've done the measurements.

There was another user who measured the headsizes of several mids, including the PS85, the KPS88, the Tour 90 and the Prestige, and posted the results on this forum.

How do you even know that's the same racquet? It doesn't look like it. Besides, if there was a paintjob of it available, why would Wilson give him a blacked-out frame?

No PWS, same string pattern. Most likely it is the same racket.
Didnt Mahut previously us some 95 with PWS racket? So this is a change for him.

Mahut has been using a frame that looks like a Blade mold without PWS for a long time.

Here he is over 5 years ago with the K-Factor Six-One 95 paintjob on the Blade mold with no PWS:

And here he is with the BLX 6.1 95 paintjob on the Blade mold with no PWS after that Wimbledon epic against Isner over 3 years ago:

Here is another picture of Nicolas Mahut's racket:

I know that the side-arms are loose; I did not string this racket but instead placed it on my machine as it was of interest to me.
It appears to be very similar to Ernests Gulbis's racket:

Hope this can be of help,

Wondering what's the beam width? 19-20mm? or like the retails 21-22mm?

Thanks in advance

To string this racket you got to start from the top and with 16 main you end also on the top.
On the mains seems is natural gut, and you do not want to know a mono on natural gut.

I know that mains end at hoop in this racquet.

What I am wondering is the distance last mains to the knots. Also last cross is tied off very far. Are the strings being looped or why?

Channeling @BreakPoint...

Fed's 90 is 17 times better than his 97. Because he's won 17 slams with his 90 and only 1 with his 97.

The vast majority of racquets never win a slam.

The RF97 is the only slam win at 35 years of age coming off a long layoff with a knee injury.

If Fed played better with a 90 today, he'd be using a 90 today.

I'm not going to second-guess the guy that just won the AO at his age.
