Anyone watching attack on titan btw?
Yep! Bring in here. Last episode was amazing, beware of spoilers!

I enjoyed Attack on Titan. very emotional link to what desperation of war can feel like.
Yeah, it also does a pretty good job of reminding about the primitive struggle, and the disconcerting feeling about being back at the food chain again. Which reminds me of the OP for this season. I thought it was great, hard to live up to Guren no Yumiya, but it did a great job of standing on its own.

Ah, and NO mention of Kenshin???
Rurouni Kenshin or Samurai X? I mentioned it in this same page, was recommending the OVAs,which are still some of the finest pieces of anime I ever seen. I also watched the whole TV series, and it's very special.

Well, my report for the season so far is that Attack on Titan S2 has been very good, Berserk 2017 is an improved effort from last year (which is appreciated but still far from the treatment it deserves), Zero kara Hajimeru Mahou no Sho has been quite nice and even Grandblue Fantasy which I initially thought I'd have to drag my way into it has turned out to be another surprising and comfortable ride.

No worries
I kinda knew who the armoured and colossal titans were beforehand. Courtesy of friends spoiling it for me since they read the manga

Yall liked the last two episodes of Attack on Titan (AOT) S2?

they seemed to move so slow, especially given that every episode is only 20 minutes long.

the first episode introduced a lot, but the last two didn't really.

A lot has happened in the span of the last two episodes.
Besides a bunch of reveals of titan shifters, it was also revealed that there is no breach in the walls. The flashback last episode also implies there were previous plannings and a course of action to be taken to discover infiltrated enemies. There was also a good deal of character development and background information (Krista/Historia/Ymir).
The cool thing is that, despite all these reveals, they leave even more questions open about the mysteries of the series.

Anime is tha best
Which shows are you watching?

what reveal of titan shifters? how are you watching AOT?

I'm watching the Funimation English dubbed version on adult swim - cartoon network. perhaps you're further along than I.

don't you wish the series had one hour long episodes?

currently it doesn't even feel like the fill up the entire 20 minutes allotted to them. its like the creators are stretching out the material.

Good thing I didn't spoil too much on that one, even inside the spoiler tags. Last episode was episode 31, or the sixth episode of S2. I download and watch it from the web myself (subbed). Can't stand most dubs. There are some paid services like Crunchyroll that live stream around the same time the episode airs in Japan as well. But there are probably a bunch of streaming websites one can watch without having to pay the service.

I have no idea how Funimation/adult swin is editing the source material, but 20-24 minute length episodes have been the animation standard for a long time. 40-50 minute episodes tend to be season specials whenever it happens (Fate/Zero first episode comes to mind) but these are rare, even more so now that the industry is troubled.

Yeah I'm definitely a sub person, feel most voice actors can't match the intensity of the Japanese originals.

I use animefreak to stream Attack on Titan.

Absolutely. Voice acting in Japan is an art of its own, and a number of the VA's there (seiyū) are regarded as superstars (and for good reason).

Really looking forward to the next two episodes of Attack on Titan. The hype surrounding what's going to go down is huge. The last one was so surprising already, even as a manga reader, since they added or brought scenes that happened way later on.

Didn't realize there's a Castlevania anime coming to Netflix. Not a subscriber, but sounds pretty cool. I remember first getting SotN. Such an amazing game.

Still haven't found a better mvania game. I take it that you've fully completed the game? Ever get a Crissaegrim?

Yep. I had two on my one save. Also farmed dodo birds for the rune sword. That's one of the cooler weapons in the game. Dunno if I've ever 100%'d the map though.

There is a spiritual successor coming. Watched some of the gameplay from E3. Forget the name though.

Nice nice. Plenty of good Mvanias out there to sample. Hollow Knight has started promisingly but then I became more interested in The Talos Principle. I 100%'d (200.6% IIRC) the map but didn't get close to grinding every rare drop. I grinded the Muramasa for a while so that it hits at about 300. Of course, it would be easy to set it up so you just walk away from the screen (I emulated the game) and come back later to a fully levelled Muramasa.

I did see footage from a game that seemed very SotN inspired but it didn't look nearly as good as the real deal as it lacked the fluidity and freedom of control at a glance.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Should be it.

Got it and the Crissaegrim broke the game. Probably the only flaw of that game.

Also, the Castlevania anime is out on Netflix. AND IT'S F***ING PERFECT!

If you played SOTN, the first episode is going to resonate with you quite well.

Yeah I'll probably check that out then. SOTN is one of the best games I've ever played. The Alucard shield also breaks the game though if you use the right buff IIRC.

From the wiki:

"When used with the Shield Rod or Mablung Sword in a combo, the Alucard Shield becomes an attack shield like the Dark Shield or Medusa Shield, but with the ability to deal a base 255 Hit damage multiple times per second when in contact with the enemy. The shield also recovers 8 HP, 1 Heart, and grants 3 seconds of invincibility, although MP is drained continuously when in use."

Although, the Crissaegrim was probably the only way you can ever get God's Garb from the Guardians.

so i've become a fan of Tokyo Ghoul.

Cartoon network just started season 2. as usual it already been out for a while. a lot of serious fans hated season 2 anime because it veered so far from the manga. I'm a casual viewer, i really like anime but i've hardly ever felt the need to read mangas. same goes with books, i much prefer to watch film and tv for my fiction fix. i read so much non-fiction i don't think i would have time to try and read fiction vs just watching a good movie or tv series.

anyway, does anyone else feel that Tokyo Ghoul is kind f like a modern remake of Claymore?

I only started watching anime about a year and a half ago, as a lot of people would watch it on Ship, when the work day is finished. I watched and caught up to One Piece and Naruto. I now hate waiting a full week for a new episode to come out. The only other anime I have seen is Attack On Titan.
Never used to be into anime back at school, but I could binge a series just like a TV show these days. I'm thinking of watching Cowboy Bebop, always seems to get good reception. I finished Claymore not too long ago, to hear that Tokyo Ghoul is similar gives me hope, I really enjoyed Claymore.

Don't think I could ever watch a sports anime though.

I just read Monster.

Greatest manga I've ever read ever. There simply isn't a more thought provoking premise than this. Forget your typical Shounen riff raff like Naruto and Bleach - read Monster.

What should I watch next out of these? Samurai Champloo, Code Geass or Steins Gate? Anyone seen any of these? I'll end up watching them all probably, don't even know why I'm asking here really...

The ones that worked very well for me:

Berserk
Psycho Pass
Claymore
Gundam - Iron Blooded Orphans
Attack on Titan
Made in Abyss
Samurai Champloo/Cowboy Bebop
My Hero Academia
Gintama
Death Note

Tennis doesn’t really have much but sure Baby Steps and Prince of Tennis are infinitely better than anything else out there strictly tennis speaking. Baby Steps more realism/technical, Prince of Tennis for its silliness and character development.
