McEnroe-Borg Movie Trailer

There are different versions of the trailer, the Swedish version has the title as Borg, the German version has it as Borg/McEnroe.

This looks unlikely to get a significant US release(still doesn't even have a distributor) probably will be a VOD title, since it seems rather arty. How it fares at film festivals will be key(good reviews might interst someone like IFC)

While Battle of the Sexes has a major distributor and 2 big stars. And looks incredibly mainstream in comparison.

I'd much rather see Borg McEnroe. Hope labeouf doesn't screw it up, he seems out of place compared to the rest of the trailer.

I actually think Battle of the Sexes has more potential, if only for the reason that its subject has more to tell us about the current times than the Borg-Mac rivalry which is likely little more than a fanboy showcase. Just try to count how many people you've seen who were adamant, however correctly, that Riggs threw away the match. They just can't accept that a woman might have bested a man in one of his traditionally dominant spheres, and feel they must fight this perceived threat.

Also I tend to be disillusioned with these biopics in general. In fact I'm not sure I like even arty fare like Pablo Larrain's recently acclaimed Jackie and Neruda. What exactly do these films have to offer besides yet more myth-making about their respective eponymous mythical figure? (Plus I found Portman's NY accent annoying as hell, just like I found Bridges' Southern drawl in Hell or High Water insulting though he seemed to get better as the film progressed.) If either film had some kind of a big historical message hidden or even in plain view, I missed it. I suspect Borg vs. McEnroe won't be any different.

While there's not much to go on right now, I'd rather see what this director(heard good things about armadillo) does with Borg than what the little miss sunshine crew does with battle of the sexes. Even if it does end up being fanboyesque. Plus visually it looks amazing.

Hey, don't misunderestimate Dayton & Faris. According to them venerable RT hotshots Armadillo is only 90% fresh vs. Little Miss Sunshine's 91%. In tennis terms that's like a 5% difference in service games won.

Looks very...bad. Too much modern cinematography, needs more 70's realness. Not the made up backstory, we want more actual tennis. Sad a lot will be CGI as usual these days.

The article is full of Mistakes... go check IMDB...

Original title is Borg, a Swedish (Danish/Finnish) Co-Production, Swedish not German language.
I don't think the actors look anything like the originals!
Funny, how you can see branding on rackets and strings, but nothing in the jackets... Fila and ST seem not to have paid.

Looking forward to this and the Battle Of The Sexes movie. Even though Shia Lebeouf doesn't look anything like John McEnroe. He just looks like Shia Lebeouf in a long frizzy wig and Sergio Tacchini clothes.

I won't be able to watch this because the tennis will be done the same way it always is on film: quick cuts with only close-up shots of each player swinging the racquet in a very elementary fashion, then a cut to the ball hitting the net or going by the other player for a winner. It's absolutely excruciating to watch.
