Well, that's how it is when you go for the win. I had no clue if Djokovic could beat Nadal, but I wasn't going to risk picking Djokovic. If he beat Nadal in the semis, that would be unexpected and lead to not getting the title. So naturally, that meant I had to pick the losing semifinalist in the top half here. I assumed that would be Cilic.

Final: WInner of Nadal/Djok
Semi: Winner of Rao/Zed
QF: Cilic.

I'm betting the others thought the same thing. Sucks when you go for the win and it doesn't pay off. Oh, well! See you all in Paris! ;)

This was exactly my plan for the tournament. I didn't expect Stan to lose to big John, although I don't know how I didn't when he lost to Paire last week. It threw me off and I decided to go for the win vs safer points having picked Isner earlier....ah well. Thats how it falls.

I'm going for the title, but thinking that maybe the winner of Cilic/Isner is going to beat Zverev/Raonic (since I used both in previous rounds I don't have another choice if I want to win the title).

So now, if Djokovic wins, I'll pick Isner for the SF.

And I'm pretty sure that Nadal will win the title, so I'm using Djokovic now.

Congrats to those left in the tournament.

One thing I would like to raise here is that and I know it's hard to make picks and to remember but at the same time there are rules in place and I do feel it's important that rules are adhered to.

If people don't make a pick they are eliminated.

In the same way I feel that if someone picks late then that should count as a no pick otherwise that person has essentially had a second bite of the cherry because they didn't abide by the rules properly (accidental I am sure but as I have said rules are rules)

I do feel that this needs to be looked at to avoid any unfair loopholes.

In my opinion if you pick late then you can't change it should go as a no pick it's only if you change before the match start as Krish so brilliantly did yet again today!

Interested to hear your views guys?

I think it's best if @Krish872007 ignores my Djokovic choice, thereby assuming that I broke rule #4 and get a 'No Pick'. Thank you.

Are you saying that if picks aren't submitted before the very first match of the day then they shouldn't count?

I disagree. The match has started. So his pick became invalid for late picking. So he has to pick from the remaining matches. I don't see anything unfair in that.

I don't see why in that case if you make a mistake your backup wouldn't just count if you are picking the backup at the same time as the main pick. but thats just me
Now this actually sounds fair and maybe can be stated as another reason for having a backup!

If he loses it won't make a difference (took a gamble that Del Potro would win it all here, so we'll see)
I would have taken a bigger risk if it was a Slam probably

But if he wins, it will :D

Still not 100% sure if I should change my pick to Del Potro... It's going to be a very tough match.

Just to clarify! There is absolutely nothing unfair in whah @jspennington did and that's not what I have said.

My only question here is in a general sense at what point can we stop changing our picks! Should there be a cut of point?

I like the suggestion that the BU is automatically used @jspennigton played his backup so would have been fine under that rule anyway.

I know, I agree with you there to be honest. In cases like this the BU should count.

I guess your pick is locked once the first point of that match has been played.

Step 1: make BU a match that already played.
Step 2: Profit.

No controversy.

I was just seeking clarification about when we can change picks.

Let's just focus on what would be a great match tonight!

Good luck to all those left in it.

Since it looks like we're done for today I'm gonna go ahead and pick. Hopefully I don't jinx myself and spur on a del Potro comeback (but it's okay with me if they play 2 loooooong sets tomorrow morning :D).

SF: Alexander Zverev
