Rafa Nadal's final obstacle towards a 4th YE#1 is called Hyeon Chung. Nadal won their only match this year 76(1) 62 in Barcelona.

This could be close one. Really no idea where Rafa is with his health after that final in Shanghai. If this goes it 3 sets, it could be a coin toss.

Think this could actually be close. If Chung can push Rafa on clay to a tiebrak then he's got game, Rafa might be vulnerable given it's his first match back.

He played a very good match against Kei at FO and defeated Agut recently. Chung's weakness is his serve but he has decent ground game.
I think Rafa will win this in 2.

Chung is a tough matchup for Nadal. Their Barcelona match was very close, and here it is indoors. Also, Nadal is not as great as some think he is right now. Somehow people already forgot he should have lost to Pouille in Beijing.

I predict an underwhelming straight sets win for Nadal, but I suppose that's probably in line with general odds. Let's guess 6-4 6-3.

If Nadal is in a wheelchair on life support with a barely blinking red light on the monitor he defeats Chung.
Funny. So you expected Kyrgios the servebot to destroy Nadal, but a player who is actually great at the baseline has no chance?

Chung outplays Nadal from the baseline. Wow. Yes, Federer fans, peak Nadal, right?

How is this any different to when Federer fans had to put up with Nadal, Djokovic or Murray fans touting Fed as being at his best in any of the last 7 years when the man's been over 30? Double standards much?

I'm not responsible for what others used to write.

So awful to watch tennis in this stretched format. It's like the hit into a special type of air with huge friction :(

Especially after the wonderful production at Basel - that was simply awesome!

This is the worst I have seen Nadal play since 2015. Chung breaks with ease. I told you winning 1 match indoors is a HUGE task for Nadal? Federer can still become number 1.

Incredible to see how much better the competition has gotten in recent years. Nadal would have absolutely blitzed through this tournament back in 2010 but the game has evolved so far that he just looks lost out there against even a player outside the top 50.

Chung is the best baseliner from the young players. But I can't see him winning slams. He can beat Nadal today (if Nadal keeps playing like the does now then he will for sure) but he will lose the next match if it happens.

This is already a very high quality match....how is Chung not ranked higher?
He was only getting better since the start of the year, but he got injured after roland garros. Now he is picking up the pace again

Just noticed they are back to the standard Paris courts. In 2015-2016 there were blue courts, and I think they were faster.

Every time I check back at the match there's a plot twist. First looked at 2-2, 15-40 for Chung on Nadal's serve. Then it's 5-2 Nadal, and now it's 5-5.
