The midfield with Xavi, Iniesta, Scholes and Zidane would be the scariest ever. I don't think the universe could handle that much amount of class in one team. Unfortunately we will never find that out.

Seriously people rate Scholes more highly than Lothar Mathaus? I wouldn't.

I was focusing on the more recent era anyway. And even though guys like Gerrard and Lampard have a case, Scholes is everything I want to see in our midfielder. The little genius, the one Premier League player I really wanted to see put on a Barcelona shirt one day. Manchester United were blessed to have him for his entire career.

I think Spurs will get stuffed. yeah, they beat Madrid but Juventus are a totally different animal - they've got a very well drilled, organised defence that Spurs will struggle massively to break down whereas Madrid always go gung-ho in these type of games ,which suits them down to the ground. plus they've yet to prove themselves in the big stage, how many big games have they completely bottled even at their best. not happening. (and that's not me being biased, I normally would cheer against them as I do with every other English club obviously , however seeing as we're still in with a chance I'd obviously rather have to play Spurs in the QF than Juventus and its not even close lol so am kinda neutral here. that said, forza Barca/Sevilla/Basel :p)

Harry Kane will find his way through their well-oiled machine. Juventus are there for the taking. Forgetting their United style record in the big games and all that. They have a better record now. Could you picture United beating Real? lol

@TheAssassin I liked this video, even though it might put down Ronaldo a bit as a player (unjustly so on some occasions), but the video has some truth in it.

Harsh and underrates Ronaldo's job but a good part of the video is so true. I am disappointed that so many people still live in such denial when it comes to rating these two guys.

Exactly, I agree. #2 in the video is very telling for me... one wants to be what football is and should be all about (because he loves the game), the other plays it to achieve his individualistic goals no matter how they are fulfilled. It has to be said, though, that Ronaldo would never have achieved the staggering heights without that ego, so it goes both ways I guess... but I definitely know which one I prefer and want to celebrate.

I swear Scholes is so overrated on here.

The sooner he or Manchester United realize this idiotic approach won't get them anywhere, the better for both.

absolutely no chance. that's what you get with Mourinho in charge, might get you the results short term (though United are never winning anything of note - PL or CL - under him) but the football is not gonna be pretty. He didn't even adapt whilst at Madrid, you either get used to it & accept it or you don't.

in a friendly? yeah, why not stranger things have happened. :D

on a serious note, Madrid haven't been all that great this season have they? still if they go through PSG they'll probably be the favourites no matter how well City are playing (and rightly so!) so no can't see United beating them especially as it would most likely be over two legs. I can see Liverpool beating them though, 1-1 at their place, 3-2 at Anfield easy peasy. :p

This pic was almost as beautiful as the game and result on that night at Wembley. :p

Five of our players, including each of our legendary trio back then, wanted to exchange shirts. Iniesta was the lucky one. I will never forget that trip to London for so many reasons.

Over the years of following the Premier League, I have always hugely admired him. Alongside Giggs, Le Tissier, Bergkamp, Rooney, Torres, Alonso, Silva and Aguero, my favorite player of that league, probably #1. At first I wondered if it's just me doing the praising but I was so glad when hearing greats of the game speaking highly of him as well, most notably Barcelona's. Sense forca, simplement amb el cervell. Roughly translated: without the (physical) strength, just with the brain. For our usual philosophy at least, the guy was perfect.

I am sure some Manchester United fans praise him even more than they should, it's normal with every biased fan out there, but believe me, here in Catalunya we rate Paul very highly too. :)

I don't mind #2 too much, there are several other "dolphins" out there among the best players, but I admire Messi regularly continuing with play, rarely falling down. The most important thing for me is that one of these two also creates chances, sometimes completely out of nowhere, while other doesn't do it anywhere near as much. Also one of them doesn't put himself above the rest. And also he cares about teammates' success just as much as his own. A lot of past and current greats tend to at least occasionally brag about themselves to this day, but that's not the case for Messi. It's insane how can someone that good be that humble at the same time.

City playing with a stunning dish again tonight. Even have the pundit with the old ''I've seen a lot of football in my time, this is right up there.'' Pep's way or the highway eh. Looks to be working amazingly well this season. Ownage.

Yay. Lukaku scored.

City will seriously do a full circle of Premier League wins unless Tottenham do something. o_O

That's not even 5% of Lukaku's redemption. Need a lot more of those.

Wazza scored again, cool. And good old Leicester are having a nice little streak of their own under the new manager.

Lukaku should score against real teams if he wants actual redemption.

Also, what are your thoughts on that PSG-Madrid showdown? UCL final worthy match this early.

I would be really surprised if City don't set a new record for goals scored and points won. It's 103 and 95 right now, both held by Chelsea. Part of me wants to see Pep take it, silencing everyone who was convinced that his work won't succeed in England.

I like Lukaku, this past City game is the only time I've been legitimately frustrated with him. But I kind of knew we were screwed the second Pogba got that red vs Arsenal.

Because I've already thrown him under enough buses. :p I'm holding most of the team responsible, their tactics. It does suck because there has been improvement this season. City have turned it into the Scottish premier league. They are like Celtic.

Would have preferred if Madrid were the group winners so the 2nd leg would be at the Bernabeu, just in case the team is trailing. But I think Madrid will be up for it anyway. Champions League seems to bring out the best out of these guys in recent years, especially that boy Ronaldo. And with Barcelona's regularly strong showings in La Liga, Madrid might focus even more on the UCL by the time PSG tie arrives. It sucks even thinking about giving up on the league in February but I wouldn't have had that kind of view if Barca haven't been dominating it for the last decade or so.

I wish we or Barcelona drew City, there was potential to get them back down to Earth straight away in the knockout stages. Instead those lucky plastics got Basel.:rolleyes:

Well said, I agree with all of that. Also have to agree the most with City, I really want to see them play Barca/Real/Bayern. Would be great to see how they really stack up.

Eventually they will have to face one of those teams surely. It's good that some new clubs are showing champions potential, not just those three you mentioned, good for the competition. I would have just preferred if City weren't one of the new contenders.

Couldn't agree more. You know as much as I don't like City, it will be interesting to see if I put that aside and root for them in UCL to do well. Probably not lol

It's so annoying. That first half vs City too made me break my remote. It was just trash.
25% possession at Old Trafford in that 1st half. You're insulting trash.

Should have went for the 3rd place in the group and play Europa League again, avoid any debacle in the Champions League. :D I don't think this team can bus park their way to the title like Inter or Chelsea did it once. Even if they do it would be super ugly.

You should have gone for Pep. Don't your crowds regularly shout attack attack and talk about wanting the team to play the United way?

Yeah, you should have definitely gone for Pep. :p

Pep > Mourinho.

Think that debate has been well and truly settled. If there ever was a debate.
Let's wait for Pep to win the Champions League with someone like Porto or Inter. ;) Sure Mourinho has failed to get past the semifinal with a super team but Pep's Bayern case has been almost the same.

I know Real are not the most liked club in this place (yes I am talking to you Doc, Tiki-Taka, Noleberic, TheMaestro and the rest :p) but even a report on them is a consolation or a distraction now that the Arabs smashed Spurs as well. Yuck.

Cristiano Ronaldo's free kick goal in the 1-0 FIFA Club World Cup final win over Gremio means that 2017 is now officially the most successful year Los Blancos ever had. 5 out of 6 trophies, only missing out on Copa del Rey.

33rd La Liga, stretching the competition record, now nine more titles than nearest followers Barcelona
12th Champions League, stretching the competition record, now five more titles than nearest followers Milan, and becoming the first team to defend the title in this format
10th Supercopa de Espana, now two away from Barcelona's record 12
4th UEFA Super Cup, now one away from Barcelona's and Milan's record 5
3rd FIFA Club World Cup, tying Barcelona's record and becoming the first team to defend the title in this format, record stretching 6 titles of a world champion
