It does matter (because the grommets are asymmetrical).
With the frame & grommets in front of me, it's easy to figure out how they need to go in.
Without them in front of me, it's a bigger headache to visualize.
Here's a shred of guidance...
Lay the frame on a table so that the word "Babolat", at the top/inside of the hoop, is right side up (this typically means the logo on the buttcap will likely be right side up as well, but isn't guaranteed).
Looking at the frame this way, you'll then see that the marked location for the top cross tie-off will be on the RIGHT side of the frame (near the "t" in the word "Babolat").
Now... keeping in mind that the END of the top cross will be on the RIGHT side of the frame, carefully visualize exactly how those 19 cross strings are going to serpentine their way through the frame (or, if your not good at visualizing, actually route some string loosely through all the holes in the frame where the crosses will be going).
The reason for this is...
you will want the short sections of cross string (on the OUTSIDE of the frame) to be connecting the adjacent grommet pieces TOGETHER. Install the corresponding grommet pieces to make this happen.
If you do it incorrectly, the various pieces won't get connected to each other (if memory serves... there are 8 pieces around the hoop + the small independent throat piece).
Next time, take note before removing grommets.
Best of luck.
