Hmmm is the RF97 iconic enough yet to be added to the collection???

Well this humbles my 21 frames (although 19 were purchased within the last 10 months) and my wife’s eyes:eek: as she saw your pic!!

What I find curious is when I bring several older rackets and ask someone if they want a hit with them, they often look at me like I asked them to sacrifice their first born to satan. Unless you are playing to pay your mortgage or you think your play inflates your standing with humanity why wouldn't you want to have a hit with something novel just for the fun of it? If your strokes are decent you can play reasonably well with nearly anything made from 1890 to 2018. The feel and the challenge is so different but it is still tennis. I find this particularly common with the D1 kids who grew up playing with "light" stiff racquets. To them there is only one way to play the game. I bet most of them quit playing shortly after they pay for their college once they realize they have to get a real job to pay their way in the world.

63 yr old guy just wishing more Americans liked swinging a tennis racquet just because they can. In some places in the world tennis would be considered at best foolish if not just a waste of time. I like time wasting:)

Ha yep. I found my original wood racquet a few weeks ago. Used it when I was 8 to take lessons at local park and rec court which was 53 years ago. Went out and hit with it recently, original strings and grip and it felt fine! Most new racquet tech is superfluous IMO.

My first park rec racket had a grooved wood handle no grip wrap, steel hoop and steel cable strings. That thing in retrospect was pretty cool but probably not good for "old arm health." I should track one down for the "wall."

Graphene Radical Touch MP, with black CAP, leather grip and silicone. Weight: 363 grams, balance 31.8 cms. Have four of these and four TGT 307.2, which play very similar. The retail GTouch are, indeed, softer which allows me to go for strings that were out of the question with the 307.2.

Whats the SW on those? also any lead or leather in there to help bump it up to 360g or is that just stock and CAP?

They all have a leather grip in place, along with silicone in the handle. Three of them have between 0.5 to 1.5 grams of additional lead at 12 o'clock to have them all matched.

I'm not sure about the swing weight, but it's very manageable if you are used to player's sticks.

one last question... which black caps are those? YT/Microgel Prestiges?

No, no. Those won't fit. Go with the Radical Graphene XT Black CAPs or the Radical Graphene (non-XT) Orange CAPs.

Here's more pics. These racquets play great.

ynb.
wrap your tournagrip tighter and straighter at the bottom to get a cleaner grip and no wrinkle.

I. Prestige with a drop weight, and they still look like eggs!

You got skills my brotha.
do drop weight stringers give racquet hoop a more rounder shape? Curious because mine does.....as opposed to the gamma 5800 els 6 pt mount stringer my teaching club pro strings on. My same Angell racquet looks elongated when he does it....but when I string it becomes so round. I double triple check mounting is proper and follow all rules too..

No no, Prestiges, especially older Prestiges are known to warp in the hands of inexperienced/bad stringers. And, more can go wrong on a drop weight than a crank/electric machine.

That's all.

But... if your racquet is changing its shape while stringing, that's not a good sign...

Also make sure you string your Prestige’s 2 piece starting the crosses at the top.

Yeah i know something is up everytime i string on my basic drop weight i end up with rounder hoop even for known elongated hooped racquets...not sure...im mounting it right, pulling knots right and with hand too not machine weight..even tried stringing crosses a pound or two tighter (which i hate)...still round hoop. It is also verrryy slightly shorter like less than 1/8 of an inch

I thought it was just me. Good to know. Especially notice this on Yonex frames for some reason

Thanks!

I had no idea old prestiges tended to get rounder. My dropweight machine has a 6-point mounting system, so I guess that helps.

I always take my time to string my racquets, and never rush to finish quick. Each stringing takes ~1 hour.

Stringing feels like some sort of weird therapy. Those who don't own a stringing machine have no idea what they're missing, lol.

I remember when I first hefted one of those. I told a team mate that if they did cage match tennis, where we all had to defend ourselves with a racquet, my first choice would be the Arthur Ashe, with the WIlson 2K being a close second.

How do they play? I've got a 295DC & 300DC coming on demo next week (snow permitting!) to try and find a 16x19 that I can use to replace my 18x20 radicals.

My previous racquet was a 295 Dynacore, it was great. I love my 300DCs, a 98sq head works great for me and it's an awesome model overall. Also, in my opinion, the quality of all Tecnifibre frames is outstanding. Have fun with your demo sticks, let us know you feel about them :)

Played a social on Tuesday with the 300DC and really enjoyed it. Nice feel and my elbow wasn't hurting afterwards! Didn't find my serve as powerful as my current racket but sure that's just teething trouble! Got a match next week so will use it there to. Looks promising!
