With so much negative energy wasted over at the GPPD forum...I'd rather focus on hating movies you've seen that are so bad (A) you couldn't watch till the end (B) you lost respect for the leads or (C) they're laughably bad

First nominee:

Ishtar FTW. Epic fail that blackballed seriously funny up to that point Elaine May from ever again sitting in a director's chair. While both Warren Beatty and Dustin Hoffman recovered to play great roles afterwards, this movie is the COAT.

What is the Stephen King movie with the trucks who become sentient? Maximum Overdrive? Great premise, funny start, terrible ending.

First movie that comes to mind is Napoleon Dynamite. Totally horrible in every possible way.

Blasphemy!!

My vote goes to Solaris (the newer, George Clooney version). Girlfriend conned me into seeing it. I wanted to leave midway through but she said "we paid for it, we're staying". I literally fell asleep and I've never done that in a theatre before. Absolutely dreadful.

I gotta watch supes 3 again :) 1 and 2 are GOAT, the blueprints of what modern superhero movies are. 4 was soooo good as a kid. Now it's like o_O

Yeah, there are still things to love about Superman 3. It was not on the level of the first 2, we did have peak Superman. Totally comfortable and believeable. The relationship with Lana is nice, Lana loves Clark while Lois loves Superman.

''You tell Superman we think he's wonderful! But Clark... you're the best..."

Nice line, I like that. Clark getting his due. I can still appreciate the villains even though they were duds. Superman vs Superman is the greatest fight ever. :p

Abandoned a whole lot of movies ...
American Honey (2016)
Man Up 2015
Sweetie 1989 (too graphic)
Me, Earl and the Dying Girl (2014)
All of Me (Steve Martin, lame humour)
Vampire Academy
Sherlock 2009

A couple of others that were bad

Scream 4- I was SOOOO looking forward to this since I loved the first 3, but the writing was just horrible and most of the characters were bad. Hayden Pannetierre was probably the one solid point in this otherwise really poor sequel. Disappointing as the first 3 were a solid trilogy.

The hunger games Trilogy- nothing against Jennifer Lawrence but half of the strength of the books is all the internal conflict in Katniss and her thoughts. That doesn't communicate well to the big screen and in the end its little kids killing each other without any of the emotion behind the backstory.

Avatar- great special effects....really boring otherwise. 2 hours of build up to a short little battle at the end? not worth the money and the 3d just gave me a headache.

Over half a century ago I read a book called Revolt on Alpha C, a sci-fi book for kids. Cameron must have read it as well - Avatar is way too similar. And I agree - not a good movie at all, way overhyped.

Anything with a guy dressed as a woman ..
So you're saying "Some Like It Hot" (classic), "Tootsie" (classic) and "Mrs. Doubtfire" (pretty close to classic) are bad movies?

How about the reverse, woman playing a man? In that case, "Victor Victoria" (a real classic) is bad too.

And you probably don't listen to The Kinks' "Lola".

smh

I've just started watching "Orlando". Has a very good review by Vincent Canby.
Tilda Swinson plays an androgynous male.

And yes, I think it was you who recommended "Victor Victoria" to me long ago. My dad enjoyed it. Showed it to him in late 2013, two years before he passed away. A week or two after Basel (Fed lost to Delpotro in the final).

And a very dark movie but one that was good enough to earn an Oscar for William Hurt for playing a transgender prisoner...Kiss Of The Spider Woman.

I haven't seen it, but isn't it supposed to be a cult classic of some sort.

I believe the operating system "Plan 9" was inspired by this movie.

It is hilarious, so bad it is good. He also did another film called JailBait starring Steve Reeves pre Superman that was nearly as bad.

Was it. . . Batman vs. Superman, or . . .. Superman vs. Batman.

Cranking waste of my life. Feel I should ask the studios for money.

Really? Was it worse than, say, Batman and Robin, the one with George Clooney? No way.
