After Bemelmans Federer will face Kohlschreiber! Roger needs to watch these highlights of their 2009 Wimby clash to get inspired on how to beat him again!
Well, this just proves you need a lot more than just perfect technique to win. You also need tactics, strategy, fitness, mentality.Everyone always gushes about the Fed and Gasquet BH being the most beautiful, personally I've always thought Kohli's BH is the sweetest of them all. Kohli has some of the most beautiful groundstrokes in the game - just didn't have that little extra 5-10% to battle with the ATG's in his era.
By far one of my favourite to watch in the ATP. I prefer him over ugly Shap/Thiem any day - he actually plays an all court game.
Love Kohl's game too, but when it is "off" just the tiniest bit, he goes from beauty to pure trash. One of the biggest gaps between floor and ceiling of any touring pro I have seen.Everyone always gushes about the Fed and Gasquet BH being the most beautiful, personally I've always thought Kohli's BH is the sweetest of them all. I know... this hand wringing his beyond belief. Fed has a 12-0 H2H against Kohli and they've had one tight match only, in Halle in 2015. Kohli has won exactly three sets from Roger in a dozen matches.Yes, Federer needs to get some inspiration against Kohli as he usually struggles against him...

Federer needs a lesson on how to beat a guy he is 12-0 against?
Okay guy...
This hysteria over this easy draw is hilarious. People literally trembling over a journeyman like Bemelmans is comedy gold. And Kolhi? Give me a break. Fed is the greatest indoor player ever, yet some are acting like he has to face indoor ATG titans.
i know you've heard this already but PLEASE re-upload the Fed-Murray 2015 Wimbledon Semis that match will remain in my heart for the rest of my days
You mean, the highest level of tennis ever? The day where either of them would have owned everyone else?
for some reason i remember getting super emotional after that match, i dunno why but i expected Fed to lose in straights and he just turned it up and went super sayian
shame about the final but that semi is something special for me
If that was the semi-finals you're talking about, then I have re-watched it a few times, because the level of play was just so high.
NOBODY was going to beat either of them, except for those two that day.
it was the semis where Murray showed one hell of a grass court display and still lost in straights

I realize this, but aside from the hysteria over Roger's draw (which borders on cakewalk), I don't understand the hysteria over whether he gets #1 in Rotterdam or not. Of course I want him to get it on Saturday, but it's quite likely he'll regain it in April or May anyway. Nadal defending 4600 points is a tall task at nearly 32. Unless Roger loses third round at both IW and Miami, he's set himself up to overtake Nadal soon enough when Nadal falters. If it's in Rotterdam, fabulous! But it's no big deal if he (and his fan base) has to wait a couple months longer. One match at a time.
I suppose I'm just a classic handwringerer. I feel like this is his shot to be #1 and that we shouldn't count our chickens regarding him getting it later in the season.I realize this, but aside from the hysteria over Roger's draw (which borders on cakewalk), I don't understand the hysteria over whether he gets #1 in Rotterdam or not. Just watch as "injured" Nadal defends all his clay points anyway, possibly with interest.
I'd bet good money on it tbh
That natural surfaces are just open season for Fedal. They're the only players who really have any idea what they're doing out there in terms of playing the right kind of game for those surfaces. Most players get by (badly) on clay with a hardcourt game, and a few get by okay on grass by servebotting.Yeah, Nadal doesn't really need to play all that great to trounce the current field on clay. Don't think it will be with interest though, he'll lose before the final again in one of CC masters to save up some energy for FO.

Wimbledon is Federer (and previously Murray and Djokovic too) vs. the servebot guys, and RG is Nadal vs. the same guys as usual, but with a huge surface advantage to him.
It's getting boring.
That is prob top 3 grandslam performance by fed. I remember being scared he peaked 1 round too early...i know you've heard this already but PLEASE re-upload the Fed-Murray 2015 Wimbledon Semis that match will remain in my heart for the rest of my days
Kohli is a baby Dimitrov, whose a baby Fed.
On that basis Kohli is an unborn Fed.
I don't understand this idea that Rafa is going to have a tough time defending his clay points. Right now I think it's more likely he defends his 4 clay titles than Roger defending his 2 hc titles. Who is going to step up and take their shot at the king on clay? Thiem? Goffin?I realize this, but aside from the hysteria over Roger's draw (which borders on cakewalk), I don't understand the hysteria over whether he gets #1 in Rotterdam or not. Wouldn't be so sure, Sampras, Becker, McEnroe etc. indoor tennis used to be a bigger deal before. Even Lendl was a beast indoors.

But most of the board seems to be with you on this, I'm surprised that I'm in such a small minority.
I am actually surprised that poster said it. He too has been watching Tennis for a long time..
Much longer than me actually. Fed is definitely great indoors but hard to say how great, one thing I'll always hold against him is that he supported to abolishment of carpet as a surface.
Same here. I was also sad when he supported carpet abolishment. I think he paid for that. He would have had a good edge against Novak Djokovic, if the WTF s were on that.. I think it would have been like Cincy for him in the match up against Novak Djokovic..
Did somebody rewind the clock to 2004 ? - @clayqueen
He wasn't thinking longterm maybe, at a time he still had the edge from the baseline against all of the tour save very few players. Would have loved to see Fed-Novak match-up on carpet, it was such a unique surface.
Hey mate...I think you're mixing my channel up with someone else's. I have not yet made highlights of that match! Maybe I will in the near futurei know you've heard this already but PLEASE re-upload the Fed-Murray 2015 Wimbledon Semis that match will remain in my heart for the rest of my days
Wasn't the issue with carpet that it supposedly caused lots of injuries? Has that ever been backed up by data?
