favorite/least favorite racquet you tried in 2018?

recent racquet-testing shennanigans got me thinking that we should have a thread like this for 2018.
Me and my 2 hitting partners went on a racquet testing binge the last couple of weeks; so far these are our picks regarding favorite/least favorite sticks we tried:

fav:
letstakeourshirtsoff (~4.0): chinese RF97 knock-off (100% graphite).
I was seriously amazed how well this stick played. My buddy Martin bought this one just for the lulz actually, but we were pleasantly surprised at how stable and comfortable it played after a bit of customization. Stiffness is probably around 60RA which contributes to a super buttery feel. Precision, Power and Spin were average at best though. But definitely a pleasant surprise.

Martin(~3.5): Prince Textreme Beast 98.
He's considering the switch to this from his Pure Drive. Highest praise you can give a racquet imo.

Arthur(~4.0): Volkl Powerbridge Mid.
He says he loved the control and felt like the racquet was able to deliver said control without losing too much power. From a purely objective viewpoint this would have been my pick also, but given the huge surprise of the RF97 knock-off, I chose that.

least fav:

letstakeourshirtsoff: Babolat Pure Aero.
couldn't gel at all with this. liked the power, hated pretty much everything else especially feel related. honorable mention would also be the angell TC97; anticipated that stick like a school-boy anticipates christmas, was a huge let-down. Arthur put it best as to what's wrong with this stick imo (see below). the PK redondo MP wasn't up my alley neither, but I just don't like my stick to be that soft. Other than that the PK was ok and not overpriced like the angell.

Martin: Couldn't really answer this one as he's fine with most sticks (and switching frequently too).

Arthur: angell TC97.
Said he never felt more disconnected to the ball than with this one. also pointed out that a racquet that is praised for it's customization regarding weight&balance, it's a poor joke if one buys a stick that's roughly 6g lighter than advertised. couldn't agree more.

what are your choices?

Liquidmetal Radical MP: stability is amazing for his weight, very solid even with heavy hitters.

Least favourite

Graphene Speed MP: too light, lacks stability a lot, issues playing deep (I´m testing with lead tape now)

I must say I don't have many dislikes currently.
So far I've enjoyed:
1. C10 Pro
2. Touch Prestige
3. Q Tour Plus 325
4. Ultra Tour

Currently hitting with the T Flash 300 and can see its virtues once you get dialled in. Not the sort of racquet I would normally use but I can see the appeal

Ordered the TC 97 so will be interesting to see where it fits in the scheme of things.

Interested in the CV 2.0 Revo Tour and hopefully some how get a hold of a Phantom 100 P.

Probably if I was pressed to find some dislikes I'd have to say the counterveil Burns and Blades, too much weight in the head, a bit clunky.

Fav: Babolat pure drive tour 2018. Very solid feel. Touch and feel is okay for a PD
Least Fav: Head graphene touch Prestige pro. Weird feel. No plush. Lower than average feel for a prestige

Favorite: Yonex RD Ti 70 MP Long
(basically a Yonex Prestige)
Least Favorite: Babolat Pure Drive + (2015) Every year or two I hit with a Pure Drive I hate it. This time was no exception.

I feel you on the Pure Drives. have played with two iterations of it on occasion and really no chance of diggin' them.

Only played with 2 frames so far in 2018, both Yonex - DR98 and Duel G 97 and loved them both.

Worst frame of 2017 was T Fight Dynacore 315. Really stiff and comfortable

Only new stick I've used this year is my Prince Phantom Pro 93p and I'm still in the goofy "giggle" stage with every swing. My poor, sweet ex (Yonex EZONE DR 98) has been tossed in my bag after a couple year stint. Don't cry, baby. We had a good run. Daddy's just found a far more stable, plush, dependable, solid, enjoyable girlfrie- um, er, "weapon."

Only new one I've tried to. Bought it without a demo, just new it was the right stick for me and it didn't disappoint. I'm old school, played the POG Mid for a couple decades. This is better. L-O-V-E it!!!!

I've only Briefly hit with a Wilson Ultra Tour and a Pure Drive 2018. Ultra tour felt the best, Pure drive, while still feeling like "easy mode" was harsh. Harsh always loses in my books these days.

I will start with my least favorites first. Both are Angell racquets. Reminded me of a junky Dunlop racquet I used when I was in high school in 1989. No sweet spot, horrible feel, and instant tennis elbow. Tried with a couple of strings and just was the wrong fit.
For my favorite for current racquets I'd have to say the Babolat pure strike in 18 x 20, or the pure control. After adding lead up to my spec, both had good feel, nice flex, and lower-powered.

I got to hit with one of those at the park. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. I didn't expect so little power from an extended length racquet, but it felt very precise. Didn't feel uncomfortable or unwieldy in any way either.

Best so far in 2018: 93P

I'm very selective in what I try nowadays, so nothing bad yet :)
Best 93p

Worst Sixgun tour 2.0 whatever the F

Swingweight is listed at 330 but do any of you guys think its lighter to swing than suggested? I know smaller head sizes can be easier to swing since less drag.
Also does it feel board-like being an 18x20, what strings you use and what tension?

I may be off but I'm curious does this have any similarities to Wilson Blade 93 also 18x20, cause I read some negative comments with that racquet.

Does feel easier to swing to me but 330 isn’t all that high in my opinion. Never felt boardy to me either but I string it low. No higher than 45lbs. Right now I have it strung with V-Torque 16g mains and OGSM 17 crosses both at 40lbs.

Sorry, but what is a RF 97 knockoff and where did you see it for sale? A 60 RA with pure graphite sounds like a dream.

BEST:
Wilson Ultra Tour (needs mods to work)
Prince Beast 100 ( a bit too powerful)
Prince Phantom Pro (take me back to the 80's!)
PK Redondo (oldie but goodie)

WORST:
Babolat Pure Strike 100 (eh!)
Dunlop Srixon 2.0 (bad multi demo)
HEAD graphene xt pro (feelless)
Volkl Vsense 7 (rocket launcher)
Wilson Pro Staff 97 LS

My 93p feels easy to swing, doesn't feel like 330 to me. Strung mine with Solinco Hyper-G 18 at 47lbs. I like that tension but I wouldn't go higher with that string setup. And it's crazy plush feeling, not board-like at all.

At the Volvo Car Open in Charleston I tried out the Dunlop Srixon CV 3.0 and could not connect with the frame. It just didn't feel "solid" to me. I know that's a bit subjective but just didn't feel like my Prince Textreme Tour 100p when you hit it on the sweet spot or else I just couldn't find the sweet spot on the Dunlop...

FWIW, my 13 year old junior tournament playing son didn't like the Dunlop he tried either but I don't want to impugn it since I'm not totally certain which frame he hit with (something lighter than the 3.0). He'll stick with his Tecnifibre T-Fight 315 limited.

Didn’t try many racquets last year, but from ones I tested...

Best:
Pure Strike 16x19
But not in the stock form, need weight to offer best performance.

Worst:
VCore Pro 97 310
Great feel but really unstable for me. Even with lots added weight I could get the stability and performance I wanted. Maybe 330 version is better but i didn’t try that one.

Middle ground:
Touch Prestige Pro, better then XT but not good as old ones I am using.
Speed 360 Pro was pretty good actually, also requires weight. Liked the Strike just a little bit more, and the price of the Strike was also almost half of the Speed 360 Pro, so....

Yeah, i have actually played TC95 for a while now but I do enjoy trying out different racquets and strings. SV98 did not feel good to me from the first hit. Tinny, uncomfortable, vague connection and i put down after 15 mins and simply didn’t want to use it again. Yes I did not experiment with weight or string setups so perhaps didn’t give it a true chance but sometimes you just know it’s not worth the effort. DR98 is plush and a good racquet but i liked the new ezone version even more with a bit more power and slightly crisp feel. Prince beast 98 would be hands down favorite of the three. Nice frame with good power, serve, surprisingly good connection and pretty nice control. It is forgiving and pretty user friendly with very effective playability. Alas, nothing gives me the playability of my matched TC95s so they remain my mains sticks
