Alpha Ghost Boxes

Any one have any suggestions on where to find boxes large enough to store/transport/ship the machine in? I threw away the boxes when I originally got the machine and am having difficulty finding containers or boxes large enough to store or possibly ship it in if I decide to sell it.

You could try grocery stores? They sometimes have pallets shipped in with boxes around them, if not, you'd have to build some wood crates? Could you not use the boxes you got with your Baiardo?

That's what I'm currently doing. I would like to keep them open to move it around as well.

Contact Alpha and ask them if they can send you boxes , and possibly they can also enclose the packing as well, so it would be simple to repack it.
It cannot be that expensive to ship you the few lightweight boxes with just the packing in it. Would be interesting to see just what they would charge you.

It's nice but the clamps aren't as easy and fast as the Ghost. I'm noticeably slower with it right now. I'm having to adjust the way I move the clamps. The Baiardo doesn't have as much space between the frame and the clamps so I can't swing the clamps outside the frame when readjusting them. I never noticed how many times I did that until I couldn't anymore. I'm averaging about 18 minutes a racket that would normally take about 15 and about 20 minutes for a racket that would normally take 17 to 18. I don't think it's the difference in speed of the tension head, I think it's just adjusting to the new clamps.

@SavvyStringer - great post! So based on your post in the Mighty Sensor thread, do you still feel like the Baiardo is an upgrade from the Ghost?

Or call FedEx, or UPS, or even the USPS. If they don't have them, they could probably give you some ideas.

I know for sure that a UPS store will sell you boxes.

This stringer is valuable, may want to be certain you have the appropriate packing materials. Or the shipper has them.

@SavvyStringer The Ghost has rubber feet so it can be used at a table top machine and there is a pedestal so it would have mounting points to fasten it down. i would get a Sheet of 1" plywood and drill appropriate holes to mount the "machine" on the board. Then you could fabricate a box to cover. Add wheels and a handle and add to your business card, "Have Machine Will Travel."

That's why I'm going back and fourth on keeping the ghost rather than trying to sell it. I took it last weekend to the opening day of an 80k. I was only down for the day. It is much easier to move for short periods than the Baiarado for sure.

Overall, yes. You can do tenth of pound increments and the height adjustment is fantastic. I do like the tilt feature but am still struggling with the clamps and clamp bases. I'm only about 10-15 rackets in. I expect to get more used to them the more time I spend with them.
