I feel like there's enough active users or users who've used this frame to start a discussion thread about it.

Wilson makes this wonderful frame but does not make it available to the general public. They instead hide it behind all these other paintjobs. Sometimes, disguised as a Blade, Burn, or even Ultra or any cosmetic Wilson decides to put on it.

Perfectly light for customization. It's a wonderful blend of power, comfort, control.

General specs for a base standard length H22 seem to be around:
Unstrung weight: 300g~
Unstrung Balance: 330mm-333mm
Beam Width: 22mm
Flex: anywhere between 57-64

I'd love to hear people's experience with and successful setups regarding weight/strings.

My current setup (currently tweaking again):
Weight: 352g
Balance: 32.2cm
Lead: 2grams each at 3 and 9
SW: 335-337

How do I get one?

I personally got lucky on the auction site around x-mas time. I believe if you are part of the Wilson Advisory Staff, you can order them from Wilson.

There are other messageboards (SF) and ***stocktennis.com. Not going to link them directly cause it gets blocked.

We need more English reviews... nice visuals here of the h22. They are very popular here in Europe. .those who can afford them :)

Damn straight. Try and watch this video on youtube with subtitles, auto translated into english. Hilarious!

H19

The H22 and H19 are available to tour players with a minimum ranking (not sure what it is). They are not available to Wilson Advisory Staff (teaching pro) members. They are a lower flex with a very comfortable feel. The hoop is pretty firm for a racquet with a low RA.

Thanks for the clarification.

As I recall, Geoff, I think you worked on Tennys Sandgren's H22 before AO right? Can you share his setup if you know it?

The one I tried felt so good on serve; i wonder if the firm hoop is primarily what enables a relatively flexible and comfortable feeling racquet to transmit power on serve so efficiently?

Yeah, relatively hh racquet probably not an ideal candidate for extension; the one I tried wasn't at all hh though, probably significantly 'tail weighted' as they say around these parts.

Does anybody know if you could replace the grommets on a h22 with the Wilson ultra tour grommets?
I know the Wilson ultra tour is the h19 but I don’t find any information about if they use the same grommets or not.

The ultra tour may have almost the same mold as an H19 but isnt the same. The ultra tour is flatter then the H19, that is a bit more round. Material isnt the same. RA isn't the same. Specs aren't the same. Its a complete different racket. Ive got both and they wont come close.

There are absolutely no grommets available anywhere for these.

Okay thanks anyway!
I know that reply wasn't helpful, but I got so frustrated trying to find grommets for mine, and I'm not sure if the Ultra Tour will work (with some serious heat gun stretching), since the head shapes and beam width are different.

No problem the the thought just hit me that the h22 and h19 might share grommets like the old radicals and prestiges grommets were interchangeable.

i’m very curious about this as well because I have been looking for a while for grommets.

here's an update on my setup and experience

I dropped some weight but incerased the SW a lil bit.

I'm now at 348g strung w/dampener + OG, 338-339 SW, 32.3 balance/6pts HL. 1 gram lead each at 3/9 cause I feel I needed a little more stability in the head... Swings fast and comfortably and I can smack a mean ball.

Super fun returning serves with it too.

Also, pretty sure Wilson does not provide/supply spare grommet sets separately. Especially when touring pros who order this frame may be rotating through 12+ racquets a year and then will be updating to the newest cosmetic every 1.5/2 years. There probably isn't a need to be supplying players with spare grommet sets or Wilson wants them to order new frames instead of using one all beaten up.

Yeah it’s a great racket for sure!
I don’t know my balance or swing weight but my rackets weighs close to 345g strung. Have not felt the need to add any lead to the head instead just a leather grip and about 10g under it.

I got 3 new H22s from ____68 in Blade 2015 PJ and absolutely love them. They all came in at 300 grams and, naturally, super head heavy at around 33 point something. It's important to see that these frames usually do not require any weight in the hoop, unless your needs are very special. Therefore, they come very head heavy and ready to be customized through weight in the handle, depending on your personal requirements. I added a leather grip, and about 20 grams of silicone/blu-tac. They are now sitting at 350 grams and 31.5 balance strung with OG, ready to go, which is perfect for me.

Adding a lot of weight in the channels after removing the foam, as you guys now, might not be super easy, since they provide less space than a Head pro stock frame. There are ways, for sure. Blu-Tac is a great option to really fill a channel and add lots of weight (also, easily removable), while you can indulge yourself with silicone in the other.

The magic in the H22, in my perception, lies in the fact that the throat is flexy, while the hoop has some stiffness to it (it's also extremely solid), which maintains a classic prestige-like feel, with the addition of lots of easy power and pop, also due to the 22mm beam. Therefore, your serve will feel, sound and be GOOD. The spin potential is also excellent, considering the 18x20 pattern. You will not miss your 16x19. Trust me. I string at 44 lbs full poly.

Best frames I've ever owned.

This thread inspired me to dust off my H22 & take it for a spin again. Just got through hitting this morning with my 2018 Pure Drive Plus, H22, & Blx blade 98.
I picked up the pure drive because I am now a weekend warrior & wanted extra help to keep me from getting gassed so easily.
I kept gravitating to the H22 because of the control, feel, & how solid it feels.
It weighs 330 gm/11.6 oz total with strings, grip tape, a rubber band, & bumperguard tape. Just need to get in better shape to use it to its full potential.
The pure drive has easy power but I don't have the confidence & reassurance on knowing where my shots are going to land exactly.
The Blx blade is my gold standard for racket comparison but it felt so flimsy & unstable compared to the H22.

If it's not too much trouble, I would like to ask a fellow H22 owner who has a spare, unstrung H22 if they would be willing to pick up a set of Ultra Tour bumperguard/grommets to see if they fit the H22.
I have been looking for a replacement set for so long to no avail.
I only own one which is strung at the moment & don't have access to a stringer anymore.
A set looks to be $6.99 on TW & would be awesome to know if they fit.

I currently use bumperguard tape which is adding weight to the hoop that I'd rather shed if possible. The original bumperguard is worn & I'd rather preserve it since I don't have a replacement.

Beautiful looking frames you have in that blade pj. Did you string 1 piece?

I just added very minimal lead (1g each at 3/9) cause I needed the extra TW and slightly bigger sweetspot cause I've been tending to mishit a bit playing some heavy hitters. Anything else feels excessive for sure. The layup on the frame is definitely unique. Just a very well balanced frames in every areas.

People say that the blade is pretty comparable to the H22. However, when I playtested the Blade CV a while back, it just felt clunky. Didn't help that it was pretty off spec and almost even balance (looking at you, Wilson retail QC). In the blade's defense, I didn't play with lead/balance very much as I just didn't jive with it in stock form.

I've noticed all the frames I have that were used had 2 grams at 12. I guess pros like having even more SW and polarized setup...

Mine have epoxy in the channel that I would need to basically drill out if I wanted to put silicone/bluetac under the trapdoor. I settled for leadtape on foam pallet...

Same position as you. After using the H22s for a while, I got a Pure Aero for cheap and also got a bit tempted from reading a thread here from @asifallasleep who said the game was so much easier with Babolat. Power and serves were effortless bombs. Eventually, decided that if I play with a bit heavier racket, really focus on technique (early contact with good weigh ttransfer), I can generate more than enough power with the H22. I'd rather have the extra control and comfort.

Yes, I strung it one piece, around the world, 46 lbs. Good lead placement, man. I'm sure it helps. I think the Blade 2015 18x20 does feel a little similar to the H22, the same way a BMW 528i feels "similar" to an M5, at first.

That's an interesting choice for material, epoxy. I guess the person didn't think too far ahead in terms of future needs, but you made due and figured out a solution!

Here's a few more pics of the H22s from the moment I got them, through their customization journey, until now. I've tried different string and OG combos, and I like them all. Settling for low tension full poly. Which one? Still unsure.

Thanks for the pics! is that the new black Tour V bag? Also, is pro's pro OG like tourna? I've been a back and forth Supergrap and Tourna guy but going through a Tourna phase again...

Yeah I've settled on my weight setup now and still testing strings as well. Gut/ALU hybrid shines in this setup. I mean that setup shines in every racquet I've tried but testing some cheaper, longer lasting alternatives right now. Tried fullbed cream. testing cream mains/ogsm crosses and multi mains/cream crosses with 50-52~ mains, 48~crosses.

Yeah, I think that's the model name. It's the 15 racquet version. It's nice. The pro's pro aqua zorb are nice. Pretty soft, not tacky at all, but they don't slip and they last FOREVER. They are as "cushy" as the Wilson Pro, but just non tacky, and I like the blue, personally.

Your string options sound solid. I liked the nat gut/4g hybrid, but I'm just too used to a low tension poly. I was surprised today, after testing Cyclone and Tour Bite, that so far my preferred setup is with ALU power spin at 46 lbs, followed by Tour Bite, since Cyclone is usually my go-to string. I'll keep testing.

Hello @Phantasm H22 frames are for Wilson sponsored touring pros. I believe that there is a minimum world ranking required as well. Wilson reps handle the Advisory Staff members. Some of the Wilson reps are not familiar with H22 (and H19) frames.

@Geoff - Thanks, man. I thought i was crazy saying that.
@haegger I said it once and was educated on the differences!
Looking at the pictures again of the first blacked out frames that Federer used in 2013 there was no PWS.
https://federerfan07.com/2013/07/16/federer-confirms-switch-to-98-inch-racquet/
These were the frames he tried for 2 tournaments before going back to the PS90. One could speculate that these were H22 frames.
In 2014 Federer started to use the blacked out 97 with PWS as we know it today.
