Djokovic vs Nadal is almost never one sided, and neither will it be tomorrow. Both give it their all when playing each other. They are each others BIGGEST rivals. And this rivalry is the biggest rivalry in the history of tennis. (Sorry Fed fans, but it's true.....stats prove it).

I don't know about being the biggest in history (not a tennis historian) but the biggest rivalry of this era, definitely for me.

@Meles Can you post Wimbledon's leaderboard stats in each department ?
Wimbledon has stats leaders in each department so let me just give some highlights. (Note: grass stats involve so few matches that it is like reading tea leaves.
Notables:
first serve points won Djoko 83% (8th) - Fed was first at 86% and Isner is sixth at 84%. Versus prime serving Nole from 2012-2015 on grass; 77.13%. So the new serve is doing very, very well and should get Djokovic back to the top tier of the game and potentially winning majors (great first serving makes for easier runs at majors). Queens was also excellent so this looks real. Nadal is not in the top 20.

2nd serve points won - Nadal basically leads the stat at 67% which is not a huge surprise as his 2nd serve points won is the number that has carried him back to the top of the game on all surfaces and easily his peak career. (Nadal in 2007 was 59%, 2008 & 2010 62%). Djokovic is way down and not in the top 20. In 2015 Nole was an amazing 63.6%. Needless to say Nadal 2018 so far on grass just stellar.

Returning? Wimbledumbo_O just has leaders in first points won as in no % just the raw points, and of course the quarterfinalists make up the top 8. Federer has the most with Anderson and Djoko right behind. Surprisingly Nadal is quite low on this number with a big gap vs Djoko. This is another strong sign for Djokovic who had been weakening on first return on hard even in 2016. For 2nd return points won Delpo was a huge leader and Djokovic leads Nadal by a margin. These stats vary of course because Nadal dealt with Delpo in his one tough match and Nole had the weaker serving Nishikori. We're flying pretty blind on this one thanks to Wimbledumb.

Of course I could enter all these numbers for every player from every match into a database, but that's not my job. WIMBLEDUMB IS REALLY PATHETIC. NOT ONLY DO WE HAVE STUPID STATS FROM THEM BUT THEY ALSO BLACK OUT YOUTUBE HIGHLIGHTS. Bloody poms.

And for all of that effort, your predictions are generally very inaccurate. You could save a lot of effort and time if you just flipped a coin to pick match winners. :)

Predicted mighty fraud wouldn't win Wimbledon.;) I've not really noticed your usual geriatric groupie posts lately, but the few I've seen lately I've been shocked by your sensibility.

It took little effort to see what the pathetic have done in the stats department for Wimbledumb; leave it to you to support geriatric, caveman scrawling on the wall uses of stats.:D

Yeah, that sucks donkey balls. Not even a little 5 minute YouTube highlight video, like that's going to threaten their stupid copyright. They have a little 1-minute YouTube called "what happened at Wimbledon today," which shows MAYBE the very last stroke of a match while the announcer states who won, which of course you already know.

They do have the matches on ESPN3 later, BUT... they only show them from start to finish; that's the only way you can watch. You can't fast forward or pause, or leave it and come back.

BBC sport has 5 minute highlight videos, if that helps.

Andy Murray Tips Novak Djokovic to Win Wimbledon

djokovic-07072018-wimbledon.aspx

Wimbledon, England—Andy Murray made his Wimbledon debut on Day 8 of the Championships—as a commentator.
The two-time champion appeared on the BBC with Sue Barker and Tim Henman and chatted about his plans for the hardcourt summer
as well as the goings on about Wimbledon.

Murray, who is expected to commentate the match between Rafael Nadal and Juan Martin del Potro for the BBC on Wednesday, has been mightily impressed with the play of Novak Djokovic and tabs him as a potential winner at SW19.

"I think Novak could beat [Federer and Nadal],” he said, when asked who might be able to defeat Roger Federer and Nadal. “Whether it happens or not, I don't know but he's playing really well," Murray said. "Like the Serena [Williams] situation, he hasn't been in the latter stages of the major events recently, but in terms of his level and the way he's playing, he's back to where he wants to be. Mentally he looks like he's where he needs to be, he's fired up, motivated and he's got a great shot [of winning the title]."

Murray also added that he liked to see the fire that Djokovic showed when he got into a back-and-forth with the crowd during his third-round victory over Kyle Edmund on Day 6. In that match the raucous crowd was belligerent and frequently interrupted the Serb while he was trying to serve. Murray says he liked the way that Djokovic defiantly handled the situation and while debating the Serb's reaction to the stress of the moment asked the question “Did it help him play better?”

Murray added, on the subject of Djokovic: "He said the mental side has been difficult for him. Maybe he suffered from a slight dip in motivation, which is completely understandable after winning all four Slams, it takes an incredible amount out of you. It looks like he's back to where he wants to be. It wouldn't surprise me if he went on to win the tournament."

Djokovic will face Kei Nishikori in Wednesday’s first quarterfinal on Centre Court.

Murray also confirmed that he has been practicing on hardcourts and that he plans to be in the draw at the Citi Open in Washington, D.C., which takes place from July 28 to August 5.

Saw the interview......Murray is a class act. Tim Henman saying that Djokovic overdid it with his reaction to the crowd, but Murray put him in his place.....the way Murray can.

Well, the nextgen has been getting destroyed so early in these tournaments, there's been no real reason for me to tout the impressive nature of the older players.

As for the sensibility of my posts... I'm always sensible. :) Perhaps it is simply that you happened to agree with a couple of my posts -- therefore you find them more sensible.

Well Thiemerev certainly laid an egg on grass this year, but the rest have done rather well:
1. De Minaur round of 32 at first Wimbledon
2. Tsitsipas most impressive and round of 16 at first Wimbledon
3. Edmund gave Djoko a scare
4. Unseeded Khachanov R16 defeating unseeded Tiafoe in R32
5. McDonald darkhorsed to R16 and took set off Raonic
6. Unseeded Medvedev salvaged a grass season which started with his knee taped and made R32
7. Shapo with a credible win over in form Chardy (grass finalist in Netherlands)

LostGen the real whipping boys at Wimbledon as this should be their time to shine.o_O

If someone can beat Nadal that is Djokovic. Novak is getting back to his previous form and is hungry for big victories. He was always super motivated against Nadal and knows how to plays this guy. On the other hand, Nadal is super motivated too.

P.S. This is my first post since early 2007 and Indian Wells where Nadal played Djokovic and won. That is how I discovered these boards but have never registered. I was reading comments over the years and these super funny commentators, many trolls and such. It was so funny. Can't believe that it was more than 11 years ago. I wish to send my regards to all the people here for the first time.
Welcome back Indigo. :)

I am hearing more and more that at least some of that semi will be played under the roof.

Can never fully rely on weather predictions but I'm thinking Novak would definitely like that roof, would time the BH better.

My favourite rivalry ever! I hope this is the start of Djokodal renewing their rivalry in big major semis and finals!

I think nadal wins this one but I’m hyped for it! You can never count Djoko out either. 2 tennis titans clashing in great form!

I once loved this rivalry, now I love Fedkovic a lot more. If Roger beats Novak, I don't feel its undeserved.

Rafa is great fighter though.

If that happens, and Nadal manages to win, he will probably be dead for the final. No way can he sustain a 2013 RG semi final here, after that insane match with Del Potro. Even Djokovic would likely be dead on his feet.
Even after epic match, they can beat Anderson and Isner. Anderson/Isner can also beat fresh Novak/Rafa on grass if they decide to serve bombs.

Novak coming from outta nowhere...

Welp 1) he’s an ATG every bit as skilled/talented as Rafa and 2) if you’ve been watching tennis the last 4 months you’d have seen him rounding into better and better form, match after match. No one who has been watching Novak is surprised he’s in the SFs.

Dal in 4. Sad.

I wouldn't be so sad. I think you know why.

Of course, I would prefer if Novak won!

Anyways, any reason for this prediction?

What are your thoughts on the indefatigable Nadal rising again (looked like the slam race was over AO 17)

Unreal what a pest this guy is!

. Djokovic will not try to blast forehands winners that way against Nadal, he will look to bring that acute cross court forehand into play, to open up the court, and then hitting towards Nadal's forehand side. Djokovic is the best redirector of the ball in the modern game, Nadal will be more on edge from a positioning perspective against Novak, than he was against Del Po.
Nadal said it best himself: he fears Djoker’s ability to hit angles with power. Djoker redirects with accuracy and pace. Rafa needs to step outside his comfort zone and be more aggressive to beat Novak in rallies bc once Novak starts to dictate with accuracy Rafa spirals into an inevitable unforced error or low % bailout shot.

Hoping for an epic battle tomorrow. Give me another AO’12, RG’13

I said after AO 2017 that it was laughable how so many were calling it the deciding Slam for the Slam race etc.

Prediction is based on momentum for Nadal and the unknown of just how much of the mountain Djokovic has scaled up to this point.

You're always on point.

What are your thoughts on Nadal though? I swear the guy is like Connorsx1000

You just gotta laugh...

Anways think Novak will handle him tomorrow. 55/45. Conditions tip it a bit.

I concede that it may not be fair to include a match where one player was injured in a h2h, that’s true, and I apologise for perhaps being deliberately misleading, but I was trying to emphasise that really we don’t have enough data to say that the matchup favours Djokovic on grass. More extensive h2h data in best of five does suggest, though, that Djokovic has only beaten Nadal when he has been in his absolutely peak form, which he isn’t close to right now, though hopefully he’s on his way because I miss it.

The thing is, I actually do think Nadal is around his 2010 form, though (maybe 2011 would be a more conservative approximation, though they aren’t really that far apart). Djokovic is sitting somewhere around his 2009 level from what I’ve seen of him, and really that’s just nowhere near good enough. I’m actually somewhat confused as to why people aren’t acknowledging that this version of Nadal is absolutely a rival to his best years. Not in all facets of the game, obviously, but he’s playing really good tennis. The fact that he played some bad matches in the early rounds of Wimbledon a few times doesn’t detract from what we are seeing right now.
What ur missing is that Novak isn’t serving anything like 2009 Novak.

It was deciding in the sense that had Rafa won it would have been pretty well decided :p

I made a thread a long time ago saying Nadal will win 19 Majors... it was one of the Nadal is the Best I've Seen threads and I'm not sure if that prediction is up in the existing thread or the first thread which was deleted presumably because of complaints from Federer's injured fans. Since though, with his big slump and the assumption that not everyone from following generations can be this crap and that players don't defeat father time, I assumed he wouldn't touch 19. Now it's back on though. Needless to say I didn't predict before the 2017 AO that Nadal and Federer would win 3 more Slams each by the middle of 2018. My thoughts are that he's an equal of Federer regarding motivation for the game. Scary to have two guys like that existing at the same time who happen to be legendary talents.

I think Federer is a better tennis player. Nadal's a better competitor though. And competition is part of being a tennis player. Riddles and paradoxes...

How much of a factor do you guys see Djokovic’s temper being tomorrow? It’s like a double edge sword. He seems like he’s on a razor’s edge with his anger management on court. So far he’s channeled it into fuel. Lil scared it could fly out of control if he gets punched hard early tomorrow

Just posted this in another thread.

"Nadal.

I like when the crowd is against Novak and he metaphorically shoves the meat down their throats, though.

Highly enjoyable."

I think it works in Djokovic's favor as long as he doesn't go totally outside of himself. Controlled rage.

Weather, closed-roof, nearly 5-hr Nadal Qtr final, coupled with the Muzziah's nod to Djokovic ---> Novak has the edge on this one.

The intangibles would be Nadals current tenacity/mental strength and 2018 match play experience. Just hoping for a great match.
