so coach admitted to coaching and serena denied getting coaching? was she angry just because she got caught? feel like her anger should be at the coach for coaching.

I suspect she's angry because everyone coaches all the time and it's rare to be called on it. Perhaps the others do it with a little more subtlety.

She probably will be angry at Patrick later on. She's never recieved off court coaching. I don't know what prompted mouratoglou to give it to her

He went out of his way to involve himself in the match. She freaked out but no way there should have been a coaching penalty. We all see the camera angles all the time. Coaches coach all the time, most of them can't help it. Issuing a warning for that is absurd. The racket smash is justified, we all know that rule. Issuing a verbal abuse warning for calling him a thief? That's weakness on his part. I've seen and heard much worse on both tours. Then again, so have you, you just don't care for Serena so there's really no sense in trying to make a realistic argument. I will say that I do feel badly for Osaka having her first slam overshadowed by all of that. She played incredible. You NEVER see anyone hit Serena off the court like that. Not Kerber, Sharapova, Mugaruza, none of them. Osaka played well physically and mentally. Too bad no one will be talking about that tomorrow.

She would haver NEVER LOST A SINGLE POINT IF SHE KEPT ANY COMPOSURE

What is so hard to understand. The coach said he was coaching and he was. The chair gave a valid violation. No points were lost. That should have ended it all.

Serena then went total Serena and deserved it all

How would you know that. They don't show the coaches all that much. ANd he himself said everyone does it, which means too he does it all the time.

No one robbed her or something she always does this to herself. Now she is also acting and plays VİCTİM card ohh ı am mother ı never cheat blah blah. It is pretyy clear both in todays match and the match she did have with Clijsters many years ago she was soundly beaten anyway and lost her nerves completly. New York crowd also terrible. What the hell are they booing ?? Serena seriously neeeds to be fined for her behaviour and needs threapy. She seriously have no control on her emotions and she isnt a teenager or something.
Also the final against Samantha Stosur. Was getting thoroughly outplayed and had a case with the umpire in that occasion. Can't believe people forgot the incident with the asian lineswoman too.

Whatever you think of Serena and Naomi (and I adore Naomi), there is no doubt in my mind that the chair acted improperly.

I think there was gender bias at work. The first coaching violation? Deserved. The second violation? Deserved.

But I cannot begin to count the number of times men have sat in their chairs on changeovers and had heated discussions with umpires, and nothing whatever happens. But when it is Serena, it is a game penalty in the final. Insane. Her words were actually civil -- saying she deserved an apology, no profanity, no threats.

Need more proof?

In this same tournament, we had a chair umpire come out of his chair to basically coach Kirios in front of God and everyone. The proper response would have been to enforce the code of conduct, but no. Ump goes easy on the man, and USTA backs up the umpire.

By that standard, Ramos should have come out of his chair and talked to Serena, calm her nerves, tell her he wants to help her. Nope -- game penalty (when the tirade was over and he could have let it go) to put Serena's opponent a game away from the championship.

Congratulations to Naomi, but what happened today was rooted in disparate treatment and sexism.
Go away. She got whomped in first set and was about to be finished off in second set. She got everything she deserved with her abusive, self righteous behavior. No one forced her to break her racket for second vilolation. Her behavior was an absolute disgrace to the game.

^Nope! She is an emotional being. Not letting a goddess express herself is killing tennis, at least according to mouraCOACHlu. He will find a way to monetize this event, lol!
Player at fault. Her coach coached her--he admits it. That's 1. Smashes the frame. That's 2. Verbal abuse to the ump, that's 3. Gotta know the rules. She didn't. Sexism? Not hardly. She would've lost the match anyway, NO schooled her.
Nope. When You are. A. Goddess. You do not need to know the rules.
You need an apology from anyone who dares to confront you with some rules. You are entitled to that!

Ramos will never climb a chair again. He will have a tennis ball in his next bowel movement.

Coach admitted to coaching, player clearly made tactical changes afterwards. Her being upset wasn't 100% on the violation but rather her performance too I'm willing to bet.

She tried to be a distraction to her opponent who took none of it. Instead of being a great champion she is and fighting her way through, she tried to disrupt her opponent.

Better player won, result did not lie. Good justice for Osaka.

Lets generate positivty for Osaka's win today. Its HER moment.

She has a daughter, some proof that it can't be transgenderist.

Yeah, I agree, I really don't get the verbal abuse call. I've heard players say all sorts of nasty stuff to umpires, and nobody cares most of the time. I'd be for the violation if it was a threat or something that could be remotely interpreted as a threat, but "You stole a point from me, you're a thief" is so milquetoast and bland compared to most of what's said out there that it's baffling to me why it's a big deal.

The penalties have to escalate. From memory McEnroe miscalculated at the AO in 1991 when he thought he would be penalised the set, but the next step up from a game penalty is the match.
Was 1990 against Pernfors and not 91.

Being a bit more sensitive would be fine in some situations. But mostly umpires are correct. Some of us know the 80 and 90 at which the umpires (Ings !) thaught that they were the main actors on court.

Hey man, it’s quite easy to shake off a coaching warning. It doesn’t have any impact on the match

Don’t destroy your racquet and continue to berate him when you’re skating on thin ice

I didn't watch the match. But just watched the replay of the incident to catch up on what the fuss was about.

The tirade went on and on until I felt uncomfortable watching. In my opinion, the umpire decided it was time for Serena to shut up.

I can't say whether or not the same umpire would have made the same call against Fognini or whoever because I've never seen another player verbally attack an umpire for enforcing the rules in a grand slam final before, but it was the right call.

Her coach admitted on live TV that he coached. Carlos Ramos picked it up so what was he supposed to do according to you?

Some players get away with it because the umpire doesn't notice it. Today he did.

So you're actually mad that Serena didn't get away with cheating while others did. How pathetic is that?

Yet Osaka's camp was also coaching from off the court yet no code violation.
1. Proof? Serena's coach it saying doesn't count.
2. If true: tough luck. The ump calls it when he sees it.

And the point wasn't lost after that. It was lost due to her breaking her racket afterwards, KNOWING what would happen. Is she stupid? is she so arrogant she didn't think the ump would dare take away a point?. Does she lack any self control?

It would be more accurate to say like two of the greatest USO champions — JMac and Jimbo — she tried to disrupt her opponent. ;)

To be fair to Osaka, she mostly keeps to herself. I would not think Osaka would even be involved in that.

The only coaching she needed was already done prior to the match, Sascha Bajin knew everything about SW and that helped Osaka a lot.

.. and I dno if your post is even true.
