What is the average fh,bh speed for4.0/5.0 player ?

Hard to say. At the USO they said Delpo averaged like mid 70s and Federer and Novak like low 70s. So 5.0 probably might be like 50 or so on average?

So like mid to high 50s might be about accurate for 5.0.
i'm a 4.5
guys in the five-o-sphere @J011yroger are probably a good 10mph faster on avg

but i have played precision 5.0's that probably hit way slower...
so i'm presuming you're specifically talking about baseline bashers

What a silly question.

Ntrp is all about winning matches.

Some people who win by pushing, lobing, dinking etc might hit 50% slower groundstrokes on average if not more than a baseline basher.

So your post is completely silly and makes no sense.

Btw I read that top wta players also average like upper 60s, so not that much faster then the men but men use of course more spin and also height over the net.

If they both Swing es hard es they can men can reach over 100, sometimes close to 110 when the ball bounces high enough and can be hit slightly down or at least very flat while the women peak like 90 or so.

How accurate is that? Your strokes seem faster than that, but i guess those are averages right? So of course slices and such decrease it a bit, and u also dont go all out always.

What about your serve speed?
the sony sensor recognizes topspin drives vs. slice... my top speed fh (guessing like a sitter), is like 80mph
avg speed for 1st serves (hard slice) is like high 80's, low 90's (99 flat if i really crank it - but that one never goes in)... but i'm mostly a precision server, not speed, and i'll throw in different spins trying to never give you the same look twice... so i might serve flat, but often will throw in a kicker or heavy (slow) slice, as a 1st serve.

#'s seem similar to playsight court i was on.
also fh speed also depends on the speed of the incoming ball... so against another basher you might register higher speeds... but against a slicer/junker/moonball your speeds might go down.

Nice, that topspin forehand speed is more like it, and with plenty of spin :D

lol, not that it has any bearing on how well i play,... my last 5 sessions:
* max fh speed: 83. 84, 82, 70, 69, 74
* avg speeds in mid 50's
the one's in the 70's i think i wsa focusing on higher over the net with heavy spin on clay
the one's int he 80's i was on hard courts...

Hows the feeling having that thing in the buttcap of the racquet, do you feel it? Bothers you? It has to change hos racquet plays slightly aswell.
Its quite intriguing tho, my racquet is compatible with it.

Don't you think a 5.0 "pusher" hits the ball faster than a 3.5 "pusher". Gilles Simon is an ATP "pusher" and he would over power rec players easily. You have a bit of a point but I think ball speed on "average" increases as you move up the scale to more advanced tennis.

Isn’t this contradictory? I absolutely think ball speed rises in general as expertise and NTRP level go up especially at lower levels.

Ball speed raises just from the incoming speed. You can't push the ball 40 mph against a pro if you wanted when you make clean contact because it comes in so fast.If the ball comes in at 75 you can probably just block it and still hit it 60 mph if you hit the sweet spot.

Ball speed definitely increases as levels move up, because players become more adept at being able to handle/put away shots that are not "deep, heavy, or forcing movement/defensive positioning". Although, I would argue that as you move up in level the average increase in speed over previous level decreases.

Thiem and Nadal averaged 78-81mph on both the forehand/backhand side, and they definitely hit dink and other softer slower shots. This means that their rally ball average mph was significantly faster than their average ball (because the fastest FH/BH top out in the 100's or maybe 110's). If they have one dink at 10mph to avg 80, they needed 8-9 shots at 90 or they need one at 100mph for every ball they hit at 60. The point being that as you get faster it is harder to raise the average up higher because physics governs the pace.

My personal data from Zepp is that average close to 70 mph off the forehand and 50 on the backhand. In match serve speed 80-90, in practice serve speed is closer to 105-110 (with peaks in the 120's)*

*based off of Zepp's data from racket speed to "potential ball speed" based off that racket speed. I don't believe that I have hit a 129 mph serve, though I do believe the racket head speed of 94mph - but assume my technique is not as good as a pros/it was in the sweet spot/etc. I do know that even my slowest second serves hit the back fence, even when I go out way wide.

Fair enough, but again they rarely mention forehand speeds above 100 with highest I heard in US Open of 105 (delpo). If some of them drift into the 50's and 60's it is hard to average 81 fh 78 bh (Thiem) and 78/75 Nadal. Just check average speed in your car to see how much going slow affects it.. even on the highway..

that's pretyt big... 70mph avg fh
do you play college tennis?

i mean, i can hit 70-85, but not consistently enough to register 70mph on avg...

I played college football. To be fair in actual match play the FH avg is in the 60's. But no-one including the 5.0 and ups at my local club think I hit a soft ball, and I definitely like pace. But also my weakness, variation esp moving me front back kills me.

For reference point: I hit often hit with a pro who goes over to Europe as hitting partner for many of the US WTA players (Qatar, Doho, and the clay series) and he says my rally ball is as big or bigger than all of theirs. He also played in the qualies at the Citi open and just missed out on the qualifiers for US Open.

I purposely try to depower my sticks (18x20, low power frames) and have always played a big game. Luckily, I am finally getting consistent enough and smart enough to start winning more (one my first sets against 4.5 in singles 2 weeks ago). Also won 1 game and got one game to deuce against a former world #151 singles #40 doubles players in a set.

Average RPM is more important.

Sergi agrees :)

oops, I had a typo. My point was to say higher level pushers hit faster than lower levels. I'll try to edit my earlier post.

My most recent playsight stats. I am a 4.0 and I was hitting with another 4.0. My stats are on the right and I win more of my men's matches then I lose. I mostly play doubles though. I think I also hit harder in doubles then I do in singles. But playsight doesn't work for doubles so I am not sure.

What is that good for? I'm sure he is an excellent player (5.0 at least) but he is smashing max effort flat shots with 3 inches of net clearance and maybe 20% of them landing in the court. Still impressive that he hits 80+ but he won't use those shots in game (unless he doesn't care that only a quarter of them are in.

For one it gives an idea of speed. Shows what 80-90 mph shots look like. One can infer an average from that especially if this is the max.

Wow thats amazing spin.

Quite suprized considering alot of ppl say rec players hit like 800rpm max.

Forehand:
AVG: 50 MPH
TOP Speed: 67 MPH
AVG RPM: 1900 RPM
TOP RPM: 3466

Backhand:
AVG: 47 MPH
Top Speed: 65 MPH
AVG RPM: 1521 RPM
TOP RPM: 2965 RPM

This is my singles stats. I know I probably hit both much harder in doubles but I have no data to back it up. (Less running around and more prepping and going for it in doubles.)

Everyone (including other 4.0s) describe my game as a topspin heavy game. I am sure 4.5s will say my strokes are slow and float into their strike zone so they can crush it. Based on the comments, I think most other people do hit more flat and less spin.

Im very suprized by these stats, almost 3500 max topspin from these rec players, Federer hits max at 4500 while Nadal hits max at 4900.

I was expecting more like 1500-2000max

Difference is, Nadal/Fed also put more energy into pace and not just spin.

45-50 mph avg. with lots of spin is definitely a rec shot.

75-80 mph avg. with lots of spin is definitely a pro shot.
