Even the weaker European players won a Masters 1000 (Cilic, Zverev, Berdych, Thiem).

And masters 1000 of the ROTW players ? I think 0..

Racquet actually looks really nice with the gold. Fed also looks like he went mini super-saiyan. lol...

WIlson's really trying to milk Fed this past year or so though.

It looks like a late 2000s BLX blade without the final finishing embellishments applied to the paint.

You gotta hand it to Wilson; just when you thought the 'poser' market was saturated after two regular releases of the same racquet, they find a clever way to reinvigorate things. As for those who genuinely bought the RF97A without caring that it's Federer's - more or less - stick, my heartfelt apologies - to both of you;) I've got to admit, that racquet would look seriously good with my AJ3s - hummm...

I looked at the first post and was a little bit disappointed, I was expecting the all red one but then I saw the date and I'm a believer, no a trace, of gold in that frame... The black and gold is nice but I hope to see something different and not so regal, hopefully the red one.

while its true that companies are out to make money, still its nice to have different editions of a popular model, giving the buyer a choice that suits his image.

in this overpopulated world, its still a matter of individuality the sets us apart, making each one of us a VSP(special)

I was going to say what! There was going to be an all red RF97 for Laver Cup and then I realised this post is from last year lol

Hahahaha..... Federer is on the blue team, but Wilson have handed him a red racquet. Does anyone not see this...
The rest of the world team is wearing red, including Johnny Mac.... the coach. Biggest mistake in Wilson history! Seriously embarrassing stuff

$299.99 for a racket lol GTFO
I was thinking about tennis and how it's one of the most expensive sports to play as a recreational player, most of it comes from buying frames, I love to get a new frame every now and then, mostly on discount but to spend $300 on a new pj seems a little excessive to say the least, I don't see many soccer players buying new shoes and sorting them, football player don't buy new helmets, baseball players have one glove, you get the idea, is there any other sport that makes people spend so much money without any need?

Golf basically.

The frames aren't expensive as long as you stick with them for numerous years. But these companies roll out new "updated" versions of the rackets every 18 months, or if you are Wilson, a new paint job every other month. The cost really comes in with court time, new balls, string, shoes, etc etc.

I would pay that much if it was pro stock. If they keep this up racquets gonna be 349 next.
But to pay that kind of money for a racquet that it's no different from the one you already own except for the PJ is for me absurd, too expensive.

Right. I was saying I would only pay that much for a real pro stock racquet, not the same retail one with a different paint job. I cannot wait to see what Wilson's next paint job update is gonna be, will they actual listen to what some of us have been saying and try to come up with a good design or will they just continue to try rip us off with gimmicks.

i laugh everytime someone says tennis is expensive sport.

before tennis , i raced motocross and supercross. the bike alone costed $10k, and u buy a new one every one to two years. boots $400, helmet 500, neck brave 600, pants, gloves goggles chest protector add 600 more.
oil, gas, supplies, truck usage, food, add another 150 each trip, thre times a week, gym fees to stay in shape, etc.

before that i used to figure skakte as a kid, $1K for boots and blades 300. every year, ice time big bucks every day etc etc.

i just laugh when i hear guys complain about tennis being an expensive sport!! u dont kno how lucky you are!

I'm not complaining, what I mean is that tennis it's not an expensive sport per se, it becomes expensive when we start to buy into the marketing and get frames at too high of a price for new paint jobs.

It can be expensive in other countries where public courts aren't available.

nobody cares about the price of rackets. The most expensive items by far in tennis are consumables. Court fees, strings, grips, shoes, balls. Anyone that plays the sport seriously is going to have a large bill every week from those items alone.

Only way im buying this is if it ends up on fromu.th’s website and can buy it through my work’s
account

I still choke up paying more than $100 on shoes,
Let alone $150+ for racquets

Yeah my max for shoes is around 80 bucks and I actually never paid more than 150 for a racquet. You can use your bosses money to buy a racquet? LOL

Im spoiled since we have a retail account through from.uth, so i buy my shoes, and racquets through there, normally i would get my vapor 9.5’s for $90 with shipping.

Ironically I’m browsing eb.ay for another few pairs of vapor 9.5’s and their still selling brand new for $120+ minimum...no thanks.

The last pair of shoes I bought was the nike blue ultra reacts which i found by luck for $160 originally on clearance and waited until they dropped down to $100 2 weeks later

I'm interested in learning how you are able to spend money from your work?! For me 100 not really worth it for shoes since I play so often and the cushioning goes bad after several months. I tend to buy older models of whatever shoe or racquet I want.

Not so much the paint job itself is called rocket red. Like rocket laver
And in addition to that the Swiss flag is red as well so.

Hey @chikoo, in your picture the RF frame has a combination of infrared with a darker red. Does anyone have a detailed image of the actual unstrung frame?
