What is more to happen - Fed fans shifting to Novak side or hating him even more ?

Will Djokovic with his spells lure Fed fans to his side ?

  • Yes

  • No

You aren't a worthy fan of anybody. Arguably the ONLY poster here I dislike.
I take that as a compliment.

Maybe you would hate my son as well? Since he is a die hard A Murray fan? He couldnt care less about the slam race. He is supporting a player for other reasons. Im sure he likes you even less that I am. You are not triggering me like you used to do. But it looks like I trigger you a lot, still, after all this time.

Why would I hate your son? Is he here taking digs at Federer? I like Andy Murray myself. So if anything we'd get on well.

Do you want your son to hate me because you do? Is that what you want?

More laughable tripe from the forum joke. Keep 'em coming just like your poorly worded posts littered with broken English. Which I forgive if the person is decent. But since you're a bully, a troll and a bad poster I will pick on you for it.

And "all this time". What, you think I wake up the next day and forget all the horrible crap you've said? Seems like your ONLY real supporter here is 125. And when are you going to turn on him? Remember when you agreed with me back when Novak was winning everything and you were making posts like this about him? Oh how quickly that changed. If anything you are projecting. You are a gloryhunter but not in a good sense. You just enjoy watching the worst happen to Roger. Did he reject your Tinder request or something LOL?

Grow up.

Yes, he doesnt like Federer at all, he doesnt even like to speak about Federer. He neither cares for Nadal, but he respect that I do.

If he knew what you have written about Andy, being the biggest Andy hater on this forum, he would hate you. He is the biggest Andy Murray fan I know. I didnt teach him that, he loved Andy before I did, from he was only 3 years old.

Liked Djoko and his game a fair bit since I first started watching him. That hasn't and won't change. His comeback story is pretty … wait for it … epic. And I think the fact that he once again dominates to this extent as soon as he got healthy further solidifies the fact that his level is just far ahead of anyone in this current era.

Of course, I still have a handful of other players that I like even more than Nolé, and for the sake of the excitement of the game I do hope that he has some competition and doesn't win everything. But do I like seeing him win again? For sure. And if I had to pick between him or Nadal breaking the slam record, I'd pick Novak without hesitation.

Childish comments abound here. I’m a true tennis fan and like fedr the most. If you look back at my posting history when I first started being active (joined post-USO’10, started activity in earnest in early ‘11) i was ridiculed for believing Joe Kovic’s early ‘11 streak could continue into clay season. Supposedly his movement was horrible and he couldn’t outdo Nadal. I was steadfast his mental strength and new found Energizer Bunny physicality would carry him. I wasn’t pulling for him over Nadal; I was cheering for history and it damn well near happened except for the one match I was pulling for his opponent.

So, I ask am I not worthy of taking his side now that he’s on another tear? I’m not a records freak but this is pretty heady stuff, winning 22 straight matches, including a slam title at age 31. Does anyone know a better streak at that age? I know fedr had three separate 10-win streaks in 2014 at age 31/32 but no slams in those runs. Last year, Nadal had a 17-win streak while 31 (no slam) and a 16-win streak while 32 (one slam). I seriously don’t think anyone has done 22 at 31...Agassi had a 12-win (slam) and an 11-win runs in 2003 at nearly 33 in 2003.

sentiment seconded.

Amended at 7:22am local time after a marathon work shift...pardon for my obvious brain fart:

fedr ‘17 had two nice runs;,the first after Donkey in Dubai was all that stood in his way from having a HC sweep to match Joe Kovic’11. He went on a 11-win streak before getting Haased at Stuttgart then went on a Halle/Wimby/Montreal run ended by Zedraffe that totaled 16. He then finished with 13 straight at Shanghai/Basel/WTF stopped by Goffin. All at age 35/36.

And I call myself a fedr fan???

As Novak progresses with his titles and weeks at No.1 position, will Fed fans come to his side as we have heard from some, or they will stick to their Old-erer and hate Djokovic guts even more ?
There are ones who will respect him more, but also those who will respect him less. And ofc those who will have Novak grown on them with those who have Novak grown out of them....
You know what I am saying ?

I would say he is a counterpuncher with no weapons like people say about my favorite Hewitt. I never crossed the line. I respect that he is a nice man and has had a wonderful career, he has a lovely daughter, a supportive wife and he seems like a nice guy.

So why would someone hate someone for what I said?
Don't know. Then again many people wonder why have you been nice to Murray as of recently. :)

Because believe it or not I have ALWAYS liked Murray as a player as well. I like counterpunchers. Why do you think I like Michael Chang, Lleyton Hewitt, David Ferrer, Andy Murray, Marcelo Rios and various others?

That is my favorite style of play.

I always liked how fast a player could run and not how hard they could hit the ball because that is talent too.

THIS is the match that made me start liking Murray. I liked his variety and all-rounded game. He seemed very talented to me.

Murray has a class typical for the better part of Her Majesty's subjects.

He is also quite unapologetic for having the dentist that he has, which is a quality of a real man, considering the state of his teeth.

And then? Will you support Nadal when Djokovic gets closer to 21?

By mere logic, assuming Nadal wins 1 or 2 more RG, if Djokovic surpasses his Slam count, he will be in 19-20. You still wanna support Djokovic?
I think I have to take a break from this place, this level of stupidity could be contagious.

Have you ever thought it might not be about records but more about the story? Joe Kovic’s rise from the ashes of losing to Chung, Daniel and Cecchinato to winning Wimbledon in the space of six months is the stuff dreams are made of. It is the most compelling story of 2018. That he beat Nadal along the way to achieve it really didn’t matter.

What I don’t appreciate when he starts to peak is all this pure garbage that was thrown around here that fedr tanks to avoid him. The worst part of his fanbase gets as abhorrent as the rabble in the VB. That’s the biggest turnoff for tennis fans that would like a decent conversation without ludicrous insults bandied about that are total nonsense.

I hope you see the trash that comes from Fed fans as well

Please do, the only people who'll miss you would be the Fed trolls
Please know that even though I tease you a bit I do like you as a poster too. Remind me of myself when I first joined here, how I'd argue and not take crap from anybody.

Then I got a ban. Then I realized I had to tone it down.

But please keep being yourself. I don't care if you like different players or whatever. You make me laugh in a good way.

I'd rather see Fed surpassed by Djok than Rafa. Just wouldn't feel right to see Rafa be considered the GOAT on the strength of like 14 RGs and 3 or less of everything else...plus all the Slams he missed. Djok has had a much better career and has really dominated in his good years in a way that Rafa never did.

If you wanna get banned, go for it
You were born in the year 2000 so you're basically 5 years old. This would've been something if a 5-year old got me banned. Now go do your homework so you can watch your anime because that's what people your age do.

And btw if there's anyone who's gonna get banned from this convo it's you because you went all personal on me first. Now that it's backfiring you're threatening me with reports? Yeah ok, go play with your plastic fire truck or something.

This is an interesting question for me as I always assumed that when Fed retired I'd be pretty much of a Djoko fan. He seems like a really nice guy, I like his game and admire what he's had to overcome to get to the top of the tree. Plus, despite all the arguments of "2015 Fed was peak Fed" I have never seen and will never see Djoko taking over from Fed since 2011 as anything other than the normal process of one great player taking over from the other as the older player declines. So I harbour no resentments there.

BUT Djoko winning means his small gaggle of utterly horrible "fans" (in reality extreme Fed haters) on Twitter being happy. They don't make me dislike Djoko himself at all - he is totally not responsible for them - but they do make it harder for me to enjoy him winning. Shame, and I'm kind of embarrassed about it but there we go.

But Federer was only 30 years old at the US Open 2011 and 31 at Roland Garros 2012. Not old enough to justify his losses to Djokovic due to "age".

Then when Djokovic looks like he's a threat to any Fed record, the panic starts.

I think it’s better to let Fed Fans speak for themselves. ;) The only record that is important is the slam count and Djoker isn’t anywhere close to that. No “panic” over anything else. The only time in my life I have ever rooted for Novak over Rafa is during the clay season in 2011 and in slams. If they play next year in a slam final I’m still rooting for Nadal.

Neither are catching Fed’s slam count, so I’ll root for the guy I like better: Rafa.

I could be considered a "hardcore Federer fan", and my answer has always been the same as Nadal, I respect both players massively, but I'll never support any of them if one of them are threatening Federer's records, like Nadal's Grand Slam record quest, or Djokovic's quest to beat Federer's 310 weeks at N°1. That's why I normally support Nadal against Djokovic on the main tour, while I do the opposite on the Grand Slams.
If I had to choose between Djokovic and Nadal, I'll choose the latter, not because he's Spanish, but because it's more likeable and less annoying than the former.

I came to accept that Rafa was going to be an ATG and a thorn in Roger's side when he beat Fed in the 2006 Dubai final. Rafa had been out with injury for months and it was his first event back. Fed had won it three years straight and was PEAK Fed. Nadal beat him anyway on HC's. I remember thinking, "Jesus, Rafa is gonna be REALLY good." But had anyone told me he was going to bag 17 slams, I would have thought they were bonkers.

Not quite his first event back, he played Marseille as his first tournament back and made the semi there. Dubai was his second event back.

Any of these guys really.

The numbers are now ludicrous. I wish Murray had been able to translate his success at masters’ over to the slams, that might have lent some sense of proportion to this era.

I just don’t see how we’re going to take 5-8 slam winners as seriously anymore the way these three have rewritten the books.

Looks like you missed a massive step in the evolution process, Sampras got upgraded to a guy who won even more Wimbledon than he did and could actually play finals in Paris....like I said, if you keep your eyes closed my fellow Sampras fan and evolution passes you by. I can understand denial is a real thing...Edberg never won French either. Federer took Sampras' game and added more elements to it. I'm a Sampras fan just like you, but unlike you, I am not bitter about what happened, I am quite proud of it, because it shows that Federer saw the greatness of Sampras and allowed his game to live on through him, there can be no bigger sign of respect....Still remember those commentators during the Sampras v Federer Wimbledon match "It must be like looking in the mirror for Pete" ;)
