WeissCANNON Silverstring 1.20 and Pro's Pro Gutex Ultra 16 1.30mm
That sounds to me like a plush hybrid. Unless you string it too tight, then it might lack feel. I've used a similar setup in my MW racquet in my signature below. I expect it would play a lot like Cyber Flash/Gutex Ultra, which really clobbered the ball.

PRO'S PRO SUPER TACKY+ overgrip

Not a string, but thought I'd throw in some of this stuff with my last string order. It's very good. I usually use Super Grap, and this stuff feels and lasts just the same.

Cool thanks, your signature says you play with Red Devil, how do you like it compared to other strings?

I can confirm! Received box of 30 Super Tacky + on Friday and it is top notch!!! Incredible value for 20€!!!(y)
I also bought 15 PG#5 for 10€... I use it as first layer between grip and Super Tacky. Because it is perforated and it is better for sweat evacuation. Perfect feeling!!!
And I love the fact that there is no brand name on it!!

I've been playing with it for a while now and I like it because it's very soft. It stretches like a syn gut on my dropweight when I'm stringing.

I'm not a big string experimenter. Once I've settled on something I usually stick with it and don't mess with it anymore. So I don't have a wealth of comparisons to make.

I found it to be more comfortable for me than Concept or Black Out and suited my game in terms of balancing power and control. (I like a lower power string). I didn't like Concept at all, I just didn't play well with it. Black Out was good, but I liked Red Devil better and it stayed playing better for a longer time. I cut out Red Devil after 10 hours or so.

For me it plays like a better controlled, more spinny, good syn gut.

You should string Concept at about 23kg than its quite comfy and certainly very durable. For more power add a sgut in the crosses. Some say Red devil isnt that spinny. Do you use the thinniest 1.14 gauge in closed stringbed?

Someone could compare Volkl Classic Synthetic gut 16 and Pro's Pro Synthetic 16?
Similar snapback, power and durability/tension maintenance?
Thanks

I use 1.24. My racket is a pretty open 16x18 (Prince TT100t), so I don't really need to go thinner. It's plenty spinny for me.

Has anyone tried Pro's Pro Blackout/Gutex Ultra hybrid?

I use 16g pp.gutex/18g pp.black.force for my older clients

pp.blackout is a shaped string, it will cut into the gutex a bit,, but notvtoo bad
I like 17g blackout / 18g pp.blackforce on my rakets 50/47lbs

What would be the best pro's pro's string with great spin?

Pp.devil.spin is pretty ruff string, will generate spin,, but its a pain to string and tension drops like a rock, dont like it,, tried it 2x, 2diff.packs, opted against buying a reel.. but its hard to deny the notisable extra spin I got,,
pp.blackout and pp.strategem are better feel/performance options 2me..

Did the blue color fade a lot?

The synthetics from pp are pretty economical,, they feel good and do what they say,,
but the paint wont stay on long,, as expected, imo

I only had 1 pp.4x (blue eith gold thread), I tjink they forgot to put the outer coating on it, because the paint (blue), was coming of on my hand while holding string
I wrote the comp, they agrreed with me, but never offered to replace,,
ive used the red and black, with NO similar issues,,

the regular synyhetics, played well, they do move like most synyhetics
paint again, wears out to a clear string over time.. its worth its $3/pack..
good cross strings imo..

Akenaton, Pro's Pro, X-Factor, Centrix, etc, all made in the same factory. Only with the sticker of its brand and the triple of expensive that Pro's Pro. That ultimately (Pro's Pro) has origin in Austria, but all are made in China and all the previous ones and many more come from the same Chinese factory, and are marketed in Europe , without very good reputation.

So you say Pros Pro is lying when they state that some of their strings are made in Germany or Japan?
However for years most of our sport equipment is made in China or Taiwan. Even electronic apparatus from well known brands are being manufactured in China.
That does not imply that that stuff is of lesser quality as you seem to think.

Maybe this can help you: I don't use them as cross string, but as mains. For me, the blue synth gut seems to be the softest of them all (1.30 mm). So there might be some difference between different colours.
Klaus, what do you use for the cross strings? poly frm pp? May i know your tension too.. I am looking for a hybrid for pp strings.. Currently using black out at 43m45c tension.. Thanks

I'm currently testing a different syn g/poly hybrid but I tested PP Synthetic Gut Blue 1.30 mm for quite a while with various PP poly. Tension was always around 45 lbs. My favourite poly was Plus Power 1.24mm, it worked very well.

PP syn.g is definetly a very very good string :) and I prefer it over PP multis.

The only thing I can tell you is what a friend told me, that he has a tennis shop in Barcelona, and he has a relationship with Pro's Pro distributors here in Spain, where it sells very well, and why? , because here it is very cheap. Here there are two sides the defenders of the benefits of this cheap string, and those who are convinced that it is a regular Chinese string, but that does not show the virtues of a Luxilon, an RPM Blast, a Solinco Hyper G, Signum Pro, Weiss Cannon etc. A Reel PRO'S pro here costs € 24 approx

Concept in 1.28 is very durable. In 1.33 it should be even more durable and stiffer.

Also interested! :)

I grew up with syn gut, maybe that's why I like it so much. No other string type (apart from nat gut but ... $$$) provides my favourite aspect I look in in a string: ball pocketing.

But as much as I like a full bed of syn gut for relaxed baseline tennis, I can get a bit tough to play competitve tennis. That's why I put a poly in crosses. I feel that in a hybrid I get awesome pocketing and touch, softness, feel, power from syn gut mains and control, spin from poly crosses.

Compared to full bed syn gut, I lower the tension quite a bit (full bed ~ 55 lbs.; hybrid ~ 45) and then the magic happens. It mighty not last as longs as other setups, but I get at least 5 hrs out of it (after that, tension drops, but not dramatically) and well, it's cheap so restringing always with a smile (lol).

PP syn gut 1.30 mm is one of my favourite syn gut. Soft (but I experienced a different softness in different colours: blue is very soft, grey was rather stiff for a syn gut), durable, feel and power. A syn gut that pretty similiar is for example my current choice for mains: Ashaway Liberty 1.30.

Poly? I liked even in a hybrid a softer feeling poly. Out of all PP polys, I liked Plus Power the most. Durability/lifetime is the same as in PP syn gut. Best result I got (with PP syn gut in mains) was with a different poly, Polystar Classic, my current poly. Soft, smooth and cheap too ^^

Other people prefer crisper syn gut. I didn't found crispness in PP syn gut, there are better choice if you are looking for that (Prince, Gosen).

I like low RA racqets, soft sny gut/poly hybrid and I write long posts. I'm a dinosaur ^^

Have you tried a full poly bed at a tension like 45? I feel like I get nice pocketing from Blackout at 48 , probably even more at 45 or less.

I tried polys at low tension, even around 40. 40 is not so bad at pocketing, bit it just feels different than hybrid.

I've tested Blackout before. Good poly (from what I can tell as a non poly player) , my dad plays with it and he likes it alot (besides his second favourite hexaspin 1.25 mm).

I would like to hear a comparison between PP and Volk (I remember you tested it as cross already).

Just sharing.. My current setup of full black out at ~45.. With low flex racquet.. Its comfortable, enough spin and good control setting.. But sometimes, i need it to be more lively, thus the need to hybrid with pp syn gut..

Yeah I think soo, most ppl like fbpoly on the lower end
ive come across a few players that do like the high tension, not many, but like you, are out there.. I guess irs what you get used to early,,
I myself hover outside the 50lb range,, 49/46 is my fbpoly goto tension,,
alot todo with the low power raket i play with.. 16/20 pattern,,

Strategem 8 200m

Gonna hybrid them but havent played with a poly/syn gut hybrid ever, or with strategem and pro's synethtic gut ever.
Any recommendations for tension / cross tension?

Need some info about your racquet. I tested Strategem 8 with a multi cross in my Biomimetic 200 racquet (see signature). I had the tensions @50/54 and I would go up one more pound on both. For a synth gut cross, I would tension the synthetic gut 2 lbs. tighter than the S8 main. If your racquet is lighter than mine, go down a couple of pounds. If your string pattern is more open than mine, go up a couple of pounds.

Hey guys, I read through the thread but couldn't find very much info on string notching (which is the bane of my existence). Any experience on black force or nano vendetta on notching and tension maintenance? Looking for a slick round poly that doesn't easily notch and has longish playlife.

Try concept 1.28, or plus power 1.23. Anyone complaining about pros pro durability has never played these. Furthermore the 1.33 gauge of both should exceed the durability of those.

I wonder nearly everyone here praises the black out, but critizises its durability.
They refer to the 1.24 gauge. I m interested if the 1.28 version has better durability. but same playability?
Same question for Strategem 8 1.30 related to the 1.25 gauge and possible to the Babolat rpm blast 1.30?

Black Out 1.24 has excellent durability. It's biggest downside is Tension Maintenance. It performs beautifully for the first two to three hours. But after that it becomes a trampoline.

Black Out 1.28 has better Tension Maintenance but nowhere near the Spin potential and Control potential of the thinner gauge.

IMO, none of the the PP strings are like RPM Blast in terms of peak performance spin potential and control potential. The primary reason that Black Out can compete with RPM Blast is because of the "value for money" equation for those who can restring frequently at little or no extra cost.

OK, but what about the solution of stringing a few kg tighter then wait a week before playing until it settles, or doing a little prestretch while stringing or hybriding the two different gauges?
Or does that diminish the qualities of Blackout? Although 2-3 hours playing is enough for almost 2 matches.
Also people complain about the tension maintainance of Babolat blast too, so there is little difference.

I tried all sorts of ways to get BO 1.24 to hold tension for 8 hours. Higher reference tensions, prestretching, double pulling, propotional stringing. Most of those things just ruined the string from the get go.

I trled hybriding BO with other Poly strings (shaped and round), and SG of various gauges. That did improve the depth potential but reduced the best qualities of a full bed. (Interestingly, hybriding BO with a slick round string actually reduced the spin potential as well as the control potential for me. BO works best in a full bed.)

Yes you are right, RPM Blast's tension maintenance isn't that good either. But for the few hours that it works, it works brilliantly. But I don't think the performance gain justifies the extra cost of the string compared to Black Out. I would be restringing both after about 3 hours of hard hitting.

And I ALWAYS, let the string bed settle for at least 24 hours before use regardless of the racquet or the string used. Most of the static tension loss occurs in the first 24 hours. Leaving the racquet for more than 24 hours doesn't provide any additional benefits for me.

I posted this in the 93p strings thread aswell, but I recently ordered a prince phantom 93p, I used strategem 8 and synthetic gut from pro's pros at 20/21kg, felt way too boardy.

Everyone in that thread swears upon using 18 gauge strings in the racquet, so I was looking through a few thinner pro's pros strings, these were some options that came to mind.
Does anyone have experience with these strings (in thinner gauge or regular).
