Well, I finally read this entire thread, and it was entertaining and informative.
I've actually done a couple racket changes since October after confirming it was the Babolat Pure Drive that was killing my arm/shoulder. While I love my Yonex VCORE 95s, I just nabbed three Head Liquidmetal Tour XLs (100 sq. in. on 16x19) in amazing condition, so I've been hitting with them for old time's sake (racket from high school). The person strung it a few months ago with BBO at 52# on the mains 50# on the crosses (i.e., Gasquet's setup), and I love it... I kinda want to abandon my Poly Tour Strike (1.30) reel even though it's a great string.
ANYWAYS.. If I were to sum up Jolly's Polys it would be:
- ALU Power 16L Silver: Would be your full bed of choice if money wasn't an issue. Only issue is playability drops off towards the end.
- Big Banger Original (1.30): More control than ALU and longer playability but ALU still better overall when fresh. You recommend dropping the tension more on this than ALU given it's stiffness.
- Babolat Ballistic Polymomo: Actually don't recall what you said too much on this string.
- Tier One Black Night: Best budget string that's below Luxilon but better than 90% of polys out there.
Is this accurate? I'm debating whether to buy a few more packs of BBO but curious about ALU given I've never used it.. (I know, blasphemy). I hit a heavy spin ball on the FH side, my OHBH is definitely flatter in comparison. I wrecked Isospeed Cream in a little over an hour, Volkl Cylone Tour lasted me about 8-10 hours before snapping, and Yonex Poly Tour Strike for some reason I'm not breaking. Recommendations given the above info?
