Imagine if Federer retired after 2015.

top5 + top10 points:

1) 2015 - 460 (greatest year of all)
2) 2016 - 405
3) 2007 - 387
4) 2018 - 371
5) 2006 - 369
6) 2005 - 363
7) 2004 - 360
8) 2017 - 342
9) 2003 - 337

2019 has just started.

You said earlier in another thread that 2007 was not that great either, but now 2006 and 2007 are top 5 and top 3 respectively? You're confusing me. Either they're bad and your methodology sucks (agenda) or those years were okay.

Anyway, 90s arent included, so not sure how these years rank against 80s 90s if we go by your methodology.

We were talking only about 2003-07 and 2015-18.

You can find the whole rank in post #45.

Imagine how tennis would look if Djokovic also had an all time great that was 5 years younger, consistently beating him after he turned 30 in his forays into slam SF/F, instead of coming into an era void of a top star. He is pretty lucky that the subsequent gen is a joke.

You literally just restated the post that I was replying to :-D did you even realize that?

Not unhappy with it, he produced beautiful tennis and proved once more that he wasn't old at all in 2014-16 (or in 2008-12... some think his peak ended in 2007 :cautious:).
Call whatever you like, old, past his best. He was still nowhere near the player he was back in 2003-2012 in 2014-2016. He didn’t even have his main weapon...

Not of his contemporaries, who matter the most. Djokovic and Nadal lost only to each other in 3 of the last 4 slams at 31-32.

Weak era argument can be perfectly reverted to 2003-07.

2007 was a strong year, with healthy competition for Fed across all surfaces.

2006,2010,2015,2016,2017,2018,2019all weak years.

This is just being blatantly biased for Federer.

2007 - 21 year old Nadal yet to win any title on grass and 20 year old Djokovic in his first slam final are healthy competition for Fed at Wimb/USO,
yet
2015 - The Wimbledon GOAT who set the 135+ year tournament record for fewest break pts faced en route to a Wimbledon Final, and USO GOAT who reached the final without dropping a set for the only time in his career are weak?

Also 1 time career slam finalist Gonzales at AO is strong vs 5 time AO finalist Murray is weak?

The only slam Fed faced stronger competition in 07 than Novak did in 15 was FO in that he faced a lot stronger Nadal, but Wawrinka played one of the greatest clay matches of all time to make up for that and neither won the FO anyways.

Not to mention Djokovic had to play 36 matches vs the top 10 in 2015 which is the most in the history of the tour.

The 3 GS he has picked up since turning 35 are critical for his legacy. Without them, he would likely be 2nd place behind Nadal, and soon to be 3rd place behind Novak.

Remarkably, Novak and Nadal have both won 3 GS after turning 31, matching Federer's in this age bracket already.

2015 W/USO final Fed was an UFE machine with a non firing FH. Mediocre opponent for peak Djokovic.

Yeah Murray sucked in that final. Weak opponent no better than Gonzalez.

Nadal >>>>>>>>> Wawrinka on clay no contest. 07 Fed would’ve probably won vs Stan in 4 or 5.

07 Nadal >>>>> anyone Djokovic has faced at Wimbledon except perhaps 2018 version (who Fed would have matched up with better due to declined defence)

Crazy how they've racked up slams
